@@Afternoonsun-c9y yes. Dr dray has videos explaining how this is better. While for most it won't shave 5 years off, but it helps prevent transepidermal water loss from the skin. With that said, don't go out of your way to splash water on your skin. Only do it when your skin is going to be wet from cleansing.

Good grief, your videos are a breath of fresh air. I have never truly understood why people felt it necessary or beneficial to apply so many different products to their faces. It always seemed like a lot of unnecessary steps, but I still did it because some KZbin beauty guru said it was great, and I guess I enjoyed the feeling of pampering myself. I always knew it was excessive and that if you're using the right products to begin with, you shouldn't need to layer ten different ones. The skincare industry uses so many deceptive and annoying marketing tactics and I'm completely sick of it. I find myself needing to avoid scrolling through reddit skincare threads and watching skincare channels on youtube because I always get sucked back into buying stuff I don't need.

Dr Dray. I have been following you for a month and would like to thank your for sharing your knowledge. My skin became extremely dry due to menopause, nothing was helping. I decided to follow your cleansing and moisturizing advice and was very satisfied with Neutrogena extra dry skin hydroboost and Ceravé products (dry skin cleanser and cream). I decided to substitute Hada Labo skin plumping gel for Neutrogena extra dry skin hydroboost and Hada Labo did not give me enough hydration. In short, the winner, in my opinion, in deep hydration, is Neutrogena extra dry skin hydroboost, followed by Ceravé cream for dry skin.

I have been using a Korean seven or 10 step in the morning and maybe at night maybe not get it done so I can three step program for over two years. The one thing I have noticed all I'm doing is adding layer and layer of hydration and actually pumping up the skin and I like the effect. Plus I like the ritual of taking care and doing something that's a way from my grandkids and stuff that I can do just on my own. Just to pamper my self.. my 13 year old grand daughter starting to get to a little interested in skincare so just getting her to use SPF and stuff like that and she has noticed that she's not breaking out as much if she actually washes her face from makeup and stuff like that after the day. The biggest one is to get her to use SPF and I'm almost there except for in the winter she doesn't like to use that keep on telling her yes you do. I am 56 years old and ever since I was 13 or 14 I have used sunscreen. back then that was made for the body on my face and I've been doing that for a lot of years and I like the affects. I don't have very much sun damage. Plus I never like to bathe out in the sun like my sister did she loved it and she's looks a lot older than I do and we're only two years apart. Spf is really the best anti aging you can do.

I had begun using actives, specifically TO's AHA/BHA peel a few year's ago, prior to making the use of sunscreen a daily habit, and my daughter called me outside really quick (we were out of town). Long story short, my husband and I ended up lost walking in circles for nearly two hours after making one wrong turn. Because we didn't plan on going anywhere, neither of us had our phone's either. Point is, I now have a 2x4 inch scar from sun damage clear across my forehead - not cute. I've worn and reapplied sunscreen daily ever since.

I've heard you say a few times to leave the water on your skin after washing before you moisturize for dry skin. A few questions about that: what if you have very hard water that tends to dry out your skin even more? Also, I've heard that when you leave the water on your skin, as it evaporates it tends to take too much away from the outer layer. What say you? Trying to actively repair my barrier with Vanicream cleanser and cream only right now after stupidly thinking clinique 3-step worked for me for 4 years 😱 now I'm all messed up. Thanks for your advice 👍
@Alisha212105 жыл бұрын
Use one of the gels/humectants she recommends on a wet face and then slap on your moisturizer.. which will stop the water from evaporating off your skin aka stop drying it out.

Hi Dr. Dray, thank you for the useful information like always, can you please advise me on room humidifiers and their role in preventing dryness. Will they work well with humectants as there will be more moisture in the air to draw to your skin? Thank you!

I have a very oily skin and I never really used sunscreens through the day cause they made my skin appears even more oily. I tried “la roche posay, spf60, anthelios clear skin - oil free fragrance free” and I can’t live without this product now. It doesn’t leave that oily texture and my face is matt all day. It might be not your choice but for totally worked. For oily skin type people: give it a try
@sharptooth86825 жыл бұрын
really? i also have very oily skin. i tried putting moisturizer, or any product for that matter, and in just a few minutes it looks oilier so i avoid putting any products on my face. i want to start putting sunscreen now as dr dray's advise but just could not find the right product. thanks for your comment i will give la roche posay clear skin sunscreen a try.

Well happy Friday! Loved this video. It helped me so much. Putting moisturizer on wet skin has so helped me. It's a BEAUTIFUL day in Piedmont SC. So hot today for Dec 1st. And I can't thank you enough for teaching me how to layer sunscreens. I've actually taught other people to do it. They always have the same response....I didn't know I could layer sunscreens like I do serums lol. Still burning this awesome $5 Citrus Burst candle. Ah, to die for. Take care

CASTOR OIL I have been using a $6.00 castor oil from my local drug store that works just as well as Latisse. Never an irritation, i use a Cutip to apply on both my eyebrows and eyelashes, sometimes in the evening and sometimes before mascara in the morning. The results are amazing.

I also use a hyaluronic acid underneath my moisturizer. I am 45 and you wouldn't say that I was. It is an awesome ingredient. Took about a month to see it plump out my fine lines though, so if you start using it, give it time. My mom is about to turn 72 and she uses it as well. I am extremely dry, she has normal skin. It works for the both of us, very well in fact.

W A, I currently am still using the dropper bottle from The Ordinary (it's good, I'd recommend it). If that's done I have (and have tested) a new set of dropper bottles (I stocked up) from my local Aldi's. They had it there on offer, with nothing but HA in it (!) as well as a moisturizer with HA, which I also got (it's all for underneath my regular moisturizer, I am just extremely dry, so need the double layer). But I would definitely recommend The Ordinary products. I'd have bought that again if my Aldi's hadn't beat me to it (and it was easier to obtain). I finished a moisturizing factors + HA from The Ordinary too, and loved that as well!
