Very interesting stuff and i've used this method previously when trying to figure out if a foliar application is needed. I've found the results vary alot, and not as much as some practitioners say they get. I'm assuming big results, or higher brix values could mean a lower or poorer starting point, and or poorer soils? Also, balanced soils with high CEC and high in Ca, tend to have lower brix movement over sandy or loamy soils. A few questions 1. A lot of "trial" foliage sprays in a lot of plots. Was the initial brix/baume of each plot taken prior to the spray application? 2. were plant species in each plot repesresentative of the others? 3. Were plant species tested separately or combined per plot for one result? 2. Any repeated trials across the plots for unbias results? 3. What perentage of brix movement is regarded as significant, good or bad? I found this to be very species dependent.

Crush plant material and place the sap on the refractometer and take the reading.
