We were just talking about this in the Lomography office today. Nicely done!

To take the worry out of causing damage to the film and camera you can just set the drills torque limiter very low, most drills these days have this feature.

is there any way to feed it with real 35mm movie film? if I cut a hole to fit the spool perhaps?

Unreal. Thank you for this. Love the look. Should be the cheapest way to shoot on film.

any examples of footage with this hack?

If only they sold film rolls with much longer strips(compared to the actual ones we have like approximately 144 frames) in public than they’d be more likely to have the camera work much faster on its own even when cranking it.

I would pay some bucks for a metal gear conversion on my lomokino in the future...

Would love to see a clutch of some kind for this. Most of the action I’d like to capture happens in about 10 frames or less

24frames ?

friend of mine is 3d printing parts so it can take a lens, be motor driven and take a magazine. I find it kind of a waste of money but cool nonetheless. How would one recast the parts in metal?
@chrisw57426 жыл бұрын
The part would not need to be cast. They would probably cut sheet metal and press it into shape with a hydraulic press.

hey!! i've been all day looking for a way to figure out if i can make some 3d printed lens mount for this baby... how can i see your friend's work and progress? i'm really really interested!!!!!! please helpppppp

Many of you guys sound like you really know what you're talking about when it comes to 8mm and lomokino. I just snagged an original kodak brownie 8 movie camera. Any idea where I can purchase film? Where I can develop it? Where I can transfer it to dvd so I can edit it on my computer? I'm thinking of either buying the lomokino or pixlevision 2000 next, haven't made up my mind yet.

Holy crap, this was unanswered for 8 years! I'll answer it for the sake of anyone else interested: Super 8 Cartridges and Standard 8mm Spool Film can still be purchased online. It is kind of pricey to both buy and develop the film... www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/927375-REG/foma_411801_fomapan_r100_2x_standard.html www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/792416-REG/Foma_411802_FOMAPAN_R100_B_W_Reversal.html

@zekthedeadcow You're right about that. I know a few indie filmmakers who are too scared to try film at all and give up without even trying. I've tested out a couple of 30-40 year old Super 8 cameras with film cartridges off ebay and the test footage looked pretty good. I am hoping to get my hands on a LomoKino and give it a run.

So you used cinefilm for this? And it damaged the sprocket holes?
@saintfisuto10723 жыл бұрын
I was wondering how to do this.

I feel I have to point out that most online converters say approx 580 rpm equals 10 fps and not 19 fps as stated in your video? I am looking to use a 540RPM motor that will allow me to shoot 9 fps on my Lomokino, I plan on doubling the speed in post production to make it 18fps for that silent film look. Obviously any action I shoot will be of actors using minimal movement. By doing it this way it will also allow me to save on the cost of using less 35mm film cartridges and making sure nothing breaks inside the camera ;)
@zekthedeadcow5 жыл бұрын
If I recall when I was messing around with this the Lomokino executes 2 frames per revolution.

@@zekthedeadcow Thanks Sam I will be sure to provide you any knowledge I learn along the way. One things for sure it will be a learning curve and a lot of fun.

Awesome you went through the trouble of doing this experiment and making a video why didn't you use some QUALITY film to show us all what is possible with this contraption- lol - Do you know of any way to extend the footage of the film for longer runs? This is a great project !
@KRAFTWERK2K611 жыл бұрын
Wow. really only 6 seconds at 18 fps? Making it run at slower speeds like 12 fps would be fine too. I wonder how long the sprockets will last inside the camera, until they break at the faster speed. After all, it's just plastic. I have one myself because i loved the concept of it but I'm sure sooner or later they'll release a version made of metal for 20x the price of the plastic model.

Get a super8 camera. Don't be silly.
@Cheyne_TetraMFG4 жыл бұрын
It is a really interesting look though, slightly different from Super8 especially with the aspect ratio, and if you have the phone holder for scanning with your phone camera, you don't need to get it transferred which can be a burdensome cost
@CymbalsOnly3 жыл бұрын
The smart phone film scanner software is complete and utter garbage, and constantly crashes....usually tragically after you’ve scanned 143 frames. It also literally consumes your entire phone battery in 20 minutes.
@goodmorninggeek12 жыл бұрын
Cinema frame rates defeat the purpose of this camera..... and putting a motor on it defeats it even more. And that will eat film like CRAZY...
