Stroboframe, no. The lightsphere was designed specifically to enable you to turn the flash head to vertical with a nice height above the lens, without a bracket. To see the mounting, do a KZbin search for "Gary Fong Lightsphere Collapsible Live Demonstration". I explain it clearly there.

💥 2:15 it’s a cold shoe not a hot shoe and the industry standard name is a ball head not a rollerball. And the “tripod thing” under the “flash footie” is the 1/4-20 thread mount. I’m a carpenter but I’ve gotcha covered.

Nice video, Gary. I take a slightly different twist on what you do. I like the Manfrotto 5001B stands real well for the same reason you do - they fold up tiny, but expand to full-size light stands. I like to use a different sort of head, though, the LumoPro LP633 Umbrella Swivel w/ Flash Shoe Adapter. It's nearly as quick to adjust as your ball swivel, but it adds the ability to use an umbrella if you so desire. At under 20 bucks apiece, everyone should have a couple in their kit.

I love the Manfrotto stands. In fact, I just uploaded a video showing my remote kit, with those Manfrotto stands and a Joby Rollerball. I really love the Manfrotto. I have different videos for people with limited $

Anyone have the link to where I can buy this tripod roller ball? Having difficulty finding it.
@WhirlOmar8 ай бұрын
You didn't mention the thread size of the jobi roller head. There are different size threads that attach to the stand. If you don't get the right one it won't attach.

Gary I have a question. I purchased the a5100 but it doesn't have a hotshoe. I am wondering if there is some way I can use a light for my camera if I want to do some amateur portraits. I can't say I regret my decision I only wish Sony would have put a hot shoe for my camera. Also the reason I purchased the a5100 is for selfies and videos. I prefer light if possible mounted on my camera for easy quick and go pics thanks. I know it has a flash but i would like to add a soft box mini.

Does Umbrella Flash Light Stand and Backdrop Stand Kit are same? I mean if i bought Flash Light Stand, will it serve back drop stand purpose.

I'm confused. I bought a Joby Ballhead but the thread is way too small to mount on my light stand. Am I missing a part?

is a light stand and tripod the same thing? Can i use my tripod to hold the dslr when i need it to and in other cases use the same tripod to hold my flash instead or would i need a tripod and a light stand separately?

Why can't I find the roller ball attachment he mentions? Are they called something else? I check on B&H and rollable suitcases show up in the results. Thanks.

first, bang the flash contact pins on the tripod thread then call the thingy 'the thingy' .... and that is when I stopped watching SMH
