I am sure glad I saw this. It makes me realize The Brick delivery men were not properly trained to move fridges. They did not use a ramp setup to unload the fridge but instead laid the fridge on its back and slid it off the big truck. I heard laying a fridge on its back can damage the internal parts. They also did not use moving blankets or pads before placing the fridge on the dolly and did not use straps to secure it. Because it was laid horizontally, we let the fridge sit upright for at least five hours before powering up, so it worked fine...at least so far. But I will never buy from the Brick again because their delivery men were extremely rude as hell and tried to rush us to sign the delivery waiver before inspecting the fridge.

My truck's tailgate is higher than the width of the fridge, so the bottom lip won't reach the tailgate in order to do the pivot. Need ramps to do the job safely.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Question...why do you need to wait an hour before turning on the fridge when unloaded from the vehicle? i.e. plugging it in?
@alexjones7845
@alexjones7845 3 жыл бұрын
The refrigerant in the system exists as a liquid in one part and a gas in another. When the fridge is turned sideways the liquid and gas gets mixed up so if you turn it on right after the refrigerant of the wrong physical state can flow through components designed for the opposite state, which could damage the components. The guideline is to let the fridge stand upright for twice the amount of time that it was laying down so the gas/liquid can normalize again.

@@alexjones7845 Thank you. I knew about the issues with transporting it sideways. I thought you were referring to doing this long wait when you transport it in an upright position in which case you don’t need to wait at all. Thank for your reply!

Great vid first 1 I clicked but as far as I can see like all the others it doesn’t address what I was looking for which, is their way where to secure the fridge so it doesn’t warp cause several times we’ve had fridges warp from moving them, a way I was thinking of solving this was to cut ply wood the size of of all the sides and use tie downs to tighten it as tight as possible hoping it will help it keep its form and not warp

You can lay a fridge on its side but should leave it upright afterward for 24 hours at the least upright is dangerous if you don't know how to strap it down correctly

Many people said "Never lay down the refrigerator" due to it will faulty/damage. Can someone proof it either true or only myth..?
@TheFalconJetDriver
@TheFalconJetDriver 5 жыл бұрын
I will answer that! If I transport the refrigerator on its side, at the destination I let the refrigerator sit in the vertical position it is normally in for several hours! how long? I use 24 hours before powering it up. It may be over kill in time. But that has never failed me. That’s what I do. I could offer an explanation but due to the brain trust of KZbin I am not going to offer that information. I am certain someone on the planet earth would disagree with me. So I am not going to afford anyone that opportunity. Good luck.

Abdul Khalid Ali it’s the oil in the compressor that flows out when fridge is on its side. You plug in a compressor without oil it’s toast. Let it stand 24 hrs for all the oil to flow back in the compressor before turning it back on
@coon-si3ce
@coon-si3ce 4 жыл бұрын
Some of this depends on your refrigerator make. Depending on how the compressor is built and mounted. Some, it might not be a problem, but some it would be. Those compressors are not always mounted solid, some sit on rubber mounts. And the coolant lines can bend and break. And if the compressor isn't a sealed unit, It could leak oil. And like somebody else said after moving, especially after sitting on it's side and sloshing around, The coolant can get bubbles and need to sit for quite a while to settle. So there are quite a few possible ways to have trouble. Generally it is better to keep them upright, it is how they were designed to be used.

Lets see somebody do that with a 730lb GE profile refrigerator. All these fridge moving videos show moving a lightweight $300 POS fridge. I wanna know how to move a a 730lb , 7 ft tall GE profile fridge without laying it on it's side.... conclusion...totally impossible without a crane or a lift gate. Hell it won't even fit thru the average 6'8" tall doorway.

@@AMGF815 The older they are the riskier it gets. Because they accumulate sediment in the liquid. The sediment can get lodged into an orifice and block it which burns out the compressor. If you care about saving it at all costs, leaving it upright is the way.
