Thank you for the video. Very clear! I would suggest to add some useful information: 1. to clean the browser and theme cache after uploads are done 2. to reset permalinks, otherwise one might get 404 on every page except of homepage and dashboard. 3. to run /wp-admin/maint/repair.php to fix the database Thanks again!
@hannanbaig78885 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the advice. I implemented point 2 and it worked for me. But I dont understand points 1 and 2. For point 1, are you saying that I should clear my browser history? What about theme cache? How do i do that? And secondly how do i "run /restore.php"?
@hikka-ru5 жыл бұрын
@@hannanbaig7888 Theme cache is optional depending on your theme. Maybe your theme does not have it. Clear cache on server side (ask from hosting support how to do if it is enabled) Clear cookies and all website data, including history. Repair.php is a function to repair your database. to do this you need to: 1. backup your wp-config.php and add to it this string of code: define( 'WP_ALLOW_REPAIR', true); 2. go to your-website-name.com/wp-admin/maint/repair.php page 3. follow the instructions on screen. It is safe. 4. remove the added code from wp-config.php p.s. wp-config.php is in your website root folder the code should be added before /* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */ string. Be careful with spaces and lines. This feature will restore your DB after the website migration. Good luck! This all worked flawlessly for my awego.ru

Greetings, Best video ever clear and concise. However I am having an error of "Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress." I am uploading to a subdomain. Do I also change the DB_Host from the current "localhost"? Please note I am using XAMP as my localhost. Please advise. Thank you.
@WordPressEssentials7 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric! Thanks for the comment, we're glad you like the video. As for the error you see, there are a few things that could cause it and no, you don't need to change the DB_Host in the config file. Try checking the PHP version on the XAMPP server and then your hosting account (the difference may cause such an error); upgrade the hosting server if necessary. Are you running the latest/recent WordPress version? I ask as WP earlier than version 3.9 returns a similar error with PHP 7.0 or later. This could also happen if you upload a “php.ini” file that's intended for Windows servers instead of Linux servers, or that doesn’t list the correct MySQL database driver extension path. Simply deleting the php.ini file should fix it, but make a copy as a back up. If none of this woks, try contacting the hosting support and they may be able to troubleshoot better with you on a call. Hope this helps! :)

Hi Jon! We believe that no question is silly - so here's the answer to your query. Yes, you will be able to make changes to your website post migration as you can with any live WordPress website. You don't need to go through the migration process again to do so. I also replaced the database name in the database. I turned off permalinks before exporting the site. Can you think of where I could be going wrong?
@WordPressEssentials7 жыл бұрын
Does the new site just not load or is there any particular error message that you get while following the steps? If yes, could you post it? I may be able to understand the issue better that way. When you are replacing the filepaths in the database, ensure that you replace the localhost site URL with the exact same URL of your new website - if the new website URL contains "www", then it should be added while replacing the filepaths in the database too. Check the success message at the bottom of the "replace with" dialog box once you change the URLs to ensure that the filepaths were changed....

Very good video (so far, I haven't actually moved my site yet!) Really liked the diagram overview. It's easy to get lost as a first timer!! I didn't understand the last part where you went back to the local host? Once you edit and add content live, don't you have to migrate back to the localhost if you want do the same there?
@WordPressEssentials7 жыл бұрын
Hello Kel BRIAN! Thanks for watching the video, I'm glad you liked it! As for the last bit on the localhost, we're just updating the wp-config to what it was before we changed it for the site to run on the live server. This change is required for the site to run again on the local machine - as it was before the migration. You are absolutely right about editing the site on the live server. If you make any changes to the live website post migration, it won't automatically reflect on the site running on the localhost and vice-versa. To keep both the websites in sync (same), you will either need to edit both the sites, or re-migrate after editing. Hope that helps! :)

Hi Denny, great question. This is because we had changed the DB access credentials in the wp-config file before uploading it to the server. Now as the credentials for the local host are different from that on the server, we have to change it back to original credentials for the website to work on the localhost again. Hope this helps you understand. Let me know if you still have any doubts! Thanks and have a great day! :)

@krishnatejavunnava80936 жыл бұрын
Even if you do not have the wp-config file it should work. Just that Wordpress will try to create a wp-config file for you by asking all the details of the config file like the name of the database, username, password etc. If you have those details, you should be fine.

Hello David Grenfell. The issue most definitely is with the database setup or the updating of the wp-config file. Go through the first 2 steps of the tutorial to see if you have followed them correctly; especially check if you have entered the correct db name, username and the password (as per the new db that you created on the server) while updating the wp-config file. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

this is what appears when I'm trying to connect to /wp-admin "Error establishing a database connection This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. mikheili menabde I was successful to get the theme uploaded, but some issues still remain. I have worked on uploading site for 2 days now without getting EVERYthing to work, but using multiple tutorials I am getting closer each day. Don't forget to Change table prefix too in wp-config file. Cost me a couple hours to figure that one out.

Ideally, yes... This basically migrates the entire WP setup from your localhost to the server as is. But David is makes a good point; for very complex sites, it make take a couple of more steps to make it all work correctly. Thanks for helping David! :)

hi this video is good actually i am using hostinger sit, i did follow you'r video but its been over 24 hours but my website is still not appearing on google and i followed every step...please give me help

+chiru chaitanya Hello Chiru, thank you for the kind comment. As for your question, by "website not appearing on Google" do you mean the Search Result Page? If so, that does not have anything to do with the migration. Your website will need to build authority to rank higher in Google. In case you're having issues with the migrated website, please post the exact error message so I can understand the problem better.

I completed all the task you mentioned.But when I'm trying to access my site it shows this message. If you are site owner, log in the the cPanel and replace this index.html file with yours.

Chamini PraShakthi Jayasinghe Hi, this is most likely because of the default index.html in your public directory/ site folder. Once you delete it, your website should be live. If you're not sure about which one, you can call your hosting providers support team for assistance. Hope this helps!

Ok I did this. I remove that default index.html file and all of my extracted files move to the public_html folder. Now the site is in live. But now I have another two issues, 1.all of my styles and images were not in the site 2.When I'm trying to go to other menus I can't go to them.It shows 500 Internal Server Error. Please help me to get out from here
