Didn't work google drive or my drive to my files yet. Going to try putting in downloads tomorrow. Trash moved I think to downloads. Does doc turn to word?

You can't drag a Google Doc from Google Drive into the Downloads folder. Google Docs can only exist on Google Drive. You can save a Google Doc to the downloads folder as a Word Doc, but you would need to download it as a Word doc, as shown in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZXUZ3SPabdpbLs

Hi Timmy, How do you transfer files from a Windows PC to a Chromebook

There are a lot of different ways you could do that. Uploading them to Google Drive on the Windows computer and then downloading them on the Chromebook can be quite a good option, but if you're talking large files, or lots of them, that can start to take a long time, and it might require additional Google Drive storage, and possibly use up your monthly data depending on your internet plan. A good option without using the internet can be a good old flash drive. Plug the flash drive into the Windows computer, copy the files to it, unplug it and plug it into the Chromebook, and copy the files from the flash Drive to the Chromebook. You can get fairly large flash drives for reasonably cheap these days, or if you only have a smaller one, you might just have to do it in chunks, copy one chunk to the flash drive, copy it to the Chromebook, then delete it from the flash Drive, then copy the next chunk to the flash drive, etc. I have a video about using flash drives with a Chromebook: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3Svd4yBiLFgrK8 I don't have one for Windows, but it's basically the same idea on a Windows computer. Another alternative would be to use Windows file transfer to transfer the files directly from the Windows computer to the Chromebook via your local Wifi network. This can be great once it's working, but it can be quite difficult to get it set up on a Chromebook, and it doesn't always want to connect, so I probably wouldn't recommend this unless you needed to constantly swap large files back and forth between the two computers.

Drag and drop only copies the file. The file stays in the original location and it sends another copy to the new location. When I tap to get the dropdown, the only move option is “move to trash”. The copy option isn’t copying a usable version of the file, which is why this is an issue. It turned it into a 0 byte file. I can’t find anything about why I don’t have an option to “move” a file.

Every time I try to move a file it just copy’s it does not move does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it

If you're moving a file into a different section of the files app, it will always copy instead of moving. There's no way around that, but after it's finished you can just delete the original and then you will only have the copy in the new location. So it will effectively be moved.
