Awsome a great help for a new user to mac as i have always manually managed my playlist's on windows and vdj recently switch to mac and serato and was finding it hard to import playlist's and music into itunes and serato

Hello friend, i'm quite sure your video was the most explainingfull in the internet for that topic, but if you don't mind to help me, i have few questions. 1) If i drag and drop all songs of itunes in rekodbox collection, it will begin to sabe into rekordbox folder and i can after that delete itunes and the files will work? 2) the name and artist i organized will be automatically be the same in rekordbox? 3) if organize the playlists as you told in the video (command a an drop into new rekordbox playlist) after importing all songs (question 1) will it duplicate the files or not? What do I have to do if I am using iTunes to download the music into rekordbox but don’t use it to create playlists? I just drag the iTunes songs into my playlists in rekordbox and now I’m not sure how to continue or what to do. Would be good to know, thank you!

Around 2:20, you add a new track into your iTunes Library and it's perfectly renamed (name-artist) How do you do that ?

iTunes is taking the name and artist info from the meta data of the track. Downloading from legitimate sources such as online stores, record pools and promo lists should preserve this data as they add it to the track for you.

It's a bit hit and miss on songs purchased through iTunes. If they have DRM protection no, but if they are free of DRM you should be fine

Question guy's what about making sure all cue points etc are still in tack following the transfer?

Sad that there's no way to get all the cue points and beat grids back once the file location changes It means I'm going to have to re-analyise and beatgrid + cue point over 2000 songs

The analysis data is written to the tracks file so once you relocate the file all the hot cue, saved loops, key ect will still be there. Remember we are only moving files, not making new ones. Hope this helps!

@@Crossfader nah, that's only in serato, try it on rekordbox and it won't work Rekordbox saves all the meta data in a separate file and links it to the song location, if the song location moves, you lose your cue points and everything

Problem I'm having is Im trying to migrate from my time machine music back up on my Lacie hard rive and when I connect to my new laptop, I can pull the music folder with the artists and songs on Serato dj pro, HOWEVER, I can't load or find the playlists I had on my old laptop because I only used iTunes playlists and not crates, any help?

How do you get off Rekordbox? Can you copy music files over to a folder from playlist the same way you can do with iTunes?

Yes, the cue/loop ect is saved into the tracks meta data so as long as you relocate the same file you'll find everything attached!

I just use iTunes to store my tunes I don't have any playlist on iTunes only folders in serato so how do I clean my SSD drive? Because if it's making doubles that means I'm using double the amount of storage which doesn't need to be done.

Check that iTunes is making a doubles first by checking the Media folder. It's important to check where Serato is reading the file from, your iTunes version or the version in your downloads. You can check this by scrolling to a song in Serato and pressing Cmd+R. Once you know if there are doubles you can clean up with the methods shown in the video.
