We are planning to move to POP area next Oct 2021 and check it out for at least one year. Now I know we can pay overstay fees, I was wondering about airline tickets. They require you to show proof of a return ticket to US if ur not a DR citizen. Very informative. My passport expires in October 2020. I'm booked for travel from 8/2-8/9/2020. Will they give me entry because I'm not able to get expedited passport unless it's life/death situation due to pandemic

Hi, thanks for your video! I wanted to know if you still have to pay the us taxes if you work remotely in the Dominican Republic.
@MillsRepDom5 жыл бұрын
Yes I had to pay US taxes, but not DR taxes for working remotely! I believe if you make under 5,000 a year remotely you don’t need to though.

Mills Around Ok, I was hoping to get around it since I have dual citizenship but I guess not. Thanks so much for your quick reply!

Maddy Val no problem! Hmm I don’t think so? But it may be worth a call to a tax pro! Luckily I didn’t have to pay DR tax

What if I got married in DR to a dominican? How can I get residency
@MillsRepDom4 жыл бұрын
You can apply for residency once married! I mena you can before but lots of people do it if you’re planning on staying long term. Otherwise I would say it’s not worth it. After residency you can apply for citizenship after a certain amount of time.

I'm concerned with being extorted by police, locals and their justice system on a larger scale. My husband (US citizen born in Haiti) has personally been harassed by police and had given them money and once a local tried to blatantly steal money from him while on vacation and he felt like he had no right. If we moved there, we'd most likely own property and a car. What's your thoughts on expats being extorted? And, Would you even recommend a Haitian-american to move to DR?
@MillsRepDom5 жыл бұрын
hmm that’s a good question. i have seen it and it’s very sad. you just need to be very careful and aware of what your rights are. i do know other haitians and african americans living in DR who are fine, just need to be aware of the potential for targeting but overall i think you will be fine! It is very beautiful depending what area you are in and usually people are very understanding

@@lordymartin We aren't people who are Ok with being dismissed and treated 2nd class. Especially my husband. We like to play by the same rules/privileges as the locals as long as we're legal and law abiding just like being here in USA. We're respectful but bold and we talk back. So, we're trying to figure out if we could live peacefully in DR. We hear Haitians get a hard time living there. We wonder if my husband will be judged by his character/actions or national origin. Can you elaborate on that please? We aren't into illegal activities nor shady people. We mostly keep it to ourselves. I also have to wonder if my husband 'd be turned away from an establishment he wants to enter because he's perceived Haitian regardless of an American passport. Costa Rica where I'm from is more expensive and our money 'd go further in DR. This is important to us and thank you Lordy.

@@arianaavalos7755i mean it's not that hard .they dont bother me.it's just that the law is not in our best interest.life is cheep here as compare to usa today.if you plan to open a business small.or big it'S kind of complicated if you dont have that much cash.to open a bank account you have to.prove them.where you get that money/some bank even ask to have bill payment under your name such as water,electticity and cable.lotsssss of thieves.they stole my vehicule but i just overlook it..good luck and welcome to the DR.you will like it here.you pay very little money for a nice place.every country has ups and downs.so let us live life is short.God bless you and my haitian brother
