Again, a VERY structured and realistic description of the HOW to get to the Netherlands! Thumbs up! I certainly will point the interested newcomers to this video. But, they will probably tell it's a tough job, AFTER they are lucky enough to succeed in all these steps 🙂 A very informative video. The Netherlands is more than Amsterdam. Amsterdam is the last place to look for a place of your own. A bit further away from 'de Randstad' (like you did) makes it easier. Not easy.

The Dutch housing crisis is great for homeowners because it raises the value of the properties but it really is a huge burden for younger people who have no chance on buying a house.

Only for homeowners who want to sell, homeowners who don’t want to sell, pay higher property income tax, waterboard tax and municipal tax.

Just curious, but is your knowledge of Afrikaans beneficial for learning Dutch (if you do speak that of course)? Brabant is good choice, there's a lot of job opportunities even for English speaking folks, especcially around Eindhoven.

It is certainly! I do speak Afrikaans. My other video explains this more. Experts say the two languages have 95% similarity. The grammer differs. But, when people speak slowly, I understand them and vice versa 😊

@@martebarnardWow, that's great. Being Dutch, Afrikaans is such an interesting language to me. I'm sure you guys will have a great life in the Netherlands and it looks like you're grounding pretty good already.

@@martebarnard In my opinion do people who speak Afrikaans are easier to understand than many migrants who claim to speak Dutch.

I will be leaving myself soon and my whole family from Cape Town, I dusted off my old EU passport from the carboard and will soon be buying an air ticket to Amsterdam, the number of South Africans in the Netherlands is really amazing, and the funny part is a lot have EU passports.

While for every migrant to the Netherlands, a dutch person has to live with their parents, even if they are 50 or 60, live in a car if they still have one, or on the street. 900.000 houses short. Then we see nice pictures of Amsterdam no less...as if one could ever live there. Video's like this are still going around, from every country to any country, like its all okay on the European continent and nothing going on. funny.
@martebarnard
@martebarnard Ай бұрын
I don’t think I ever once said that “all is okay on the European continent”. This is not a competition. All I can say factually is that we decided to move from a highly impoverished third world country to a first world country. Funny :)

Do not exaggerate. There is a housing crises and it is a serious one, but it is possible to get a house or apartment, only not the house/apartment you want and not in the town/city you want. The Dutch are easy with the complaints and a bit spoiled or picky. And migrant workers aren’t, they take every house/apartment offered. So don’t blame migrant workers taking all the houses/apartments, blame the left parties, they block every solution to building houses.
@DenUitvreter

@@RealConstructorNo, the mass immigration is the main cause and Dutch government or society is under no obligation whatsoever to build for foreigners, it is under obligation to make sure the Dutch have housing and is failing to do so. I also think it's rather impolitie to react to the Dutch hospitality by inviting other people over. That is pretty entitled.
@viderethevaccinatorfromhol7536
@viderethevaccinatorfromhol7536 Ай бұрын
@DenUitvreter No, we have to build more houses. We can't do without immigration. And whenever skilled and educated people like them wants to find their future in the Netherlands, we must welcome that.
@DenUitvreter
@DenUitvreter Ай бұрын
@@viderethevaccinatorfromhol7536 No, if you can't sustain an economy and society without continuous mass immigration, a radical change of the country demographcially and geographically therefore, you messed up. The labour shortage is not only very relative, it is in teachers, doctors, nurses, policemen, train drivers etc. Immigrants only increase that demand.
