What I am actually doing is mixing base sixteen and base ten in that example, to keep it consistent without being confusing. If I had written "x 10" in both examples, it could be confusing. What you say is correct, of course. In any base, "10" is simply that base. Ex: in base ten, "10" is ten. In base two (binary) then "10" is two and so on.

If we have (let's say a simple one): 101*111, for the first 1 it's obv 101, then for the second 1 i'ts like multiplying by two, so we add one zero and we have 1010 (without moving one digit over); the third is like multiplying by 4 which is 2*2, so we add two zeros and we get 10100 (still, without moving one digit over). Adding these three results gives 100011. So here I've explained the "moved one digit over" thingy. It's simply *2, hence adding 0s.

Nice explanation. One thing you could've added at the 4:20 example is that multiplication is commutative, meaning you can multiply the other way around, so you would only have to sum up two number instead of 3.

This works for small numbers, but gets difficult with larger ones. There are a lot of placings to monitor carefully. The better solution is write the first number on the top of a grid paper, and the second number down the side. Then draw horizontal and vertical lines for every 1, which is very fast. Every intersection represents 1 x 1 = 1. Everything else is 0. Then add up the intersection points diagonally. That quickly gets the answer. X 1 0 1 1 +-----+ 0 | . . . | 1 1 +-----+ 0 1 1 0 11001 = 25

I love it. I've been trying forever to figure out how to multiply using Binary. The only way I could think of on my own would be ad valueA to itself Value b Times... I'm attempting to make a Minecraft Redstone PC and want it to be able to do everything a basic calculator can and more. There's tuns of video's on how to make a full adder/subtracter and shifters but I haven't been able to find anything explaining how to make a multiplier/divider, and now that I know how to do it myself I think I can design a program if not a hardware multiplier/devider... Based on what I learned from this video I wrote out a function(in my own language) that should do the trick if anyone can find a flaw in it please PM me... I've tested it with 5x5 and it works haven't tried anything else but flowing each step on paper is a pain and writing it in a real programming language where I could properly test it by changing binA and binB and checking it's answer would be a royal pain... Function.Multiply(binA, binB); Include Function.shift() L=Length(binB)'get the bit count of binB total=0 Shifted = binA Do If binB(L)=1 then Total=Total+Shifted shift(Shifted, left, 1)'add a zero onto the right of Shifted else shift(Shifted, left, 1)'add a zero onto the right of Shifted end if L=L-1 While L>0 Return(Total) Now I just have to figure out how to either create a redstone chip to handle multiplying or a redstone command interpreter to read the function and run it.... gunna be a nightmare but I'll be in heaven while I'm pulling my hair out.... Not sure weather my way or this way is better for use with redstone. Thank You!!! for the vid.. Verry Helpful

So its not addition like multiplication, its actually subtraction. He glosses over this. Two 1's is zero. 3 one's is two one's being a zero and then carry the one to the left column. It was confusing. If I do the subtraction, based on the subtraction video, then it is more understandable. But either way, its easier just to convert the binary in head.
@HalooINC
@HalooINC 6 жыл бұрын
No this is incorrect, it's not subtraction two 1's is actually 10 (2 in decimal) so you bring down the zero for that column and carry the 1 to the next column, It's exactly the same.

@@TrippyGang2000 if you add 0 with 0, you get 0 if you add 0 with 1 you get 1 if you add 1 with 0 you get 1 as well if you add 1 with 1, what do you get? This is binary, so 2 would be 10, but you can't write that down in the slot. We instead write 0, and carry 1 over . 1 plus 1 plus 1 is now 3, which in binary is 11, so we put the 1 down and carry another 1. You have to remember the result is in binary, and when we have an extra 1, just like in decimal, you carry it..

very simple. Whenever you have an even number of ones, lets say 8, you put down a 0 divide the number by 2 (8/2), and carry the remaining (4). Whenever you have an odd number of ones, lets say 9 you minus it by 1 (9-1) put down a 1 and just as you did with even ones you divide it by two (8/2) and carry the 4.

John Edward Cabrera I think should solve for 1001101*1110000 individually, then multiply whatever answer you got by 1001001 .

Your equation makes no sense. You probably meant "0111011 * 1110011", but that would't make any sense... so basically it's an impossible equation, unless you meant that both numbers are positive and byte count is larger than 7. An example, 16-bit system.
