In this, 2 part hair tutorial, I'm going to show you how I color my hair at home to get a warm, caramel brown color using the Clairol dye that you can get from the drugstore. I get asked about my hair color in "every single video," so here is how you can easily dye your hair at home to get similar results.
Blog post : bit.ly/1Bwedro
In the first DIY video, I'm using the Clairol's Age Defy, a permanent hair color made especially for aging hair, to cover my VERY resistant grays and to warm up, and lighten my level 4 black hair to a level 6, chocolate brown hair.
I love Age Defy because it not only covered my stubborn grays completely, but it also took care of other signs of aging hair like dry, dull and wiry hair. Clairol's Age Defy develops into such a vibrant and natural looking hair color, I'm beyond impressed to say the least.
If you have hard to color, resistant grays then you're going to absolutely love this new line of home hair color from Clairol.
Even if you don't have any grays, you can still use the Age Defy. In fact, this line of color should be more hydrating than your average permanent hair dyes, since it's formulated for aging hair. You'll find Age Defy a very rich and hydrating hair color.
With that said, always remember to check the back of the box to see your color results. We all have different hair colors and hair history, so results will vary.
Please don't buy every shade I use and expect to get the same caramel hair color. Our natural hair color is different, therefor, you will need to adjust the formulation.
Do buy the same line just not the same colors, k? If you're not sure, just call the 1-800 number Clairol has on their web site, so the pro's at Clairol can assist you in picking out the correct shades for you.
In the second video, placed on the Clairol's channel (link at the top), I'm going to show you how to tone your hair with a demi hair color to create an ombre hairstyle. This trick will only work if your ends are already light. If you have black hair from the roots to the ends of your hair, then you'll need to highlight it before applying the hair color.
One of these days, when I actually need to bleach my hair again, I'll show you how to highlight your own hair at home. Since I didn't want to damage my hair unnecessarily, we're skipping the highlighting part today.
✔ To show my true hair color, I'm not wearing hair extensions in both videos.

WOWWWWWWW!!!! I am going to have to agree with you! This is by far the BEST box hair color for grey coverage and it definitely beats a lot of professional hair dyes!!! I am soooo pleased with how my roots turned out. Now fingers crossed let's see if the rest of my hair can turn out like yours! P,s,,,I searched everywhere for the Natural Instincts color that you used on the rest of your hair and couldn't find it...do you know if it has been discontinued? I can't wait to tell all my friends about this color....AMAZING!!!!! Thank you again for making this video!

I remember when i bleached my hair, I didn't wash it for 2 weeks and the night before the day i was supposed to wash it i used olive oil and coconut oil. Turned out super soft and it is still, if anyone is going to bleach or have bleached think about doing that. Now i wash my hair every 4rd day and use leave in conditioners to keep it soft, i never use heat.
@blondwiththewind
@blondwiththewind 7 жыл бұрын
I do a coconut oil treatment you describe to the lower 2/3 of my hair overnight as well....except I do it weekly. My hair stays in really good shape. Other times I shampoo, I'll rinse with very diluted ACV instead of using conditioner in the shower, and then put the leave in conditioner after my hair dries enough to be just "damp"...to the lower 2/3 of my hair, and maybe a very small amount of serum to the ends. The only heat I ever use is after my hair has air-dried to almost dry.....then flip my hair upside-down and rough dry the roots for volume. Good results...never any split ends. :-) ~ RED ☮♥♫

So, now i want to try some Ombre style like in this video, but you only covered your roots in this video for grey hairs. I only use the single colour in my hair overall at once, so i need to cover my whole length, i mean how to cover the whole length for grey hair, and have Ombre hair as well, all at once?? Are you getting me, am a bit confused, please help and guide me. I'll be sooo grateful to u. Thank you.

Hi, I love this tutorial. I'm going to start doing my own hair from now own. I had gray her since I was 21 and In the past 3 month my gray are coming out everywhere, i've being going to the salon because I don't know how to do it myself but, last time I went to dye my roots a week later I can see all my grays again they were about a inch long. I asked my hairdresser if that was normal and she said I have to go more often or do it myself. I was shocked I already spend $2,210. a year on my hair. So I decided to take her advice I went on youtube and found you and I'm going to do it myself I'm going to put aside the extra money and go on a cruise next year. I also have highlights that I want to cover, can I use the same hair dye to cover them, so it can be one color ?

I'm so glad you liked it! :D Yes, you can use the same colors, I recommend that you do. Unless you're one of those people (me) who have gray roots by the 2~3rd week, then use a product called the Root Touch-Up. Other wise, stick with the same formula. You can also play with Natural Instincts (demi) and change your shade slightly every 6 weeks. I do that sometimes for fun. :D

@ksc0322

If you want to go from blonde to brown you need to fill it first so that it doesn't turn green. Hair color works with the color wheel. Whatever color is opposite on the color wheel will cancel each other out. Ex. Red cancels green. Purple cancels yellow (brassy tones) Blue cancels orange. Blonde hair does not have any color pigment to it so you need to add it back so it doesn't turn green. You would need to use a demi permanent red orange color first then wash that out and dry hair and apply brown color as normal. This will stop it from turning green. It also really depends on how light your hair is and how dark you want to go. If it's only a few shades darker you don't have to fill it just add a little bit of red to your color formula or even use a reddish brown. Hope that helps if you ever need to do this yourself :)
