After going 100% vegan (and wholefood as well)and I wake up without bad breath. That’s unbelievable for me since I used to have bad breath throughout the day even if brushed like three times.

Also, I think using a tongue scraper after brushing your teeth works a lot better than just brushing your tongue with a toothbrush. I used a plastic one for years and they work fairly well, but I ordered a stainless steel one online a couple years ago and I think it works much better.

I eat a lot of fiber and have noticed my breath is never typically smelly. I do ensure to brush my tongue when the film develops since it feels uncomfortable to me, brushing your tongue regularly i think helps a lot.

I don’t think we can underestimate the impact of gut bacteria and chronic fungal infections in this. Also chronic sinus infections particularly when they become fungal can be a big problem. I have suffered with all of the above due to overuse of antibiotics when I was a kid and it has been a crippling nightmare. I literally didn’t even know how bad my social anxiety had become until I started wearing a mask due to covid and for the first time in my life I didn’t have to worry. The worst thing about it is that you don’t know you have it …and you also don’t know when you don’t have it!

I noticed when I eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables I have less plaque on my teeth at the end of the day and I don't taste my breath like I do when I eat processed foods

That is probably because green and fruits contains much water.

@@j-n-y yeah and most fruits contains weak acids that help to dissolve the plaque without dissolving the enamel like coke's phosphoric acid for exemple.

Okay, but what about a high fiber meal that doesn't need chewing? Like a green smoothie. Or something that requires a lot of chewing but is low fiber, like certain cuts & cooking methods of steak.
@billsemenoff2 жыл бұрын
He said in the video that chewing is the driving process. Raw plant nutrients are less bioavailable, it is said. and chewing is tiresome muscle work
@NutritionFactsOrg2 жыл бұрын
Hi, gammoregan! I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. Meat is not just low fiber, but no fiber, regardless of cooking method. Chewing, and mixing plant-derived foods with saliva start the process of digesting carbohydrates. When drinking a green smoothie, it is a good idea to go through the motions of "chewing" it, even though it does not require chewing, in order to mix it with saliva. Afterwards, rinse the mouth with water, and wait a while before brushing teeth in order to protect tooth enamel. I hope that helps! -Christine Kestner, MS, CNS, LDN, NutritionFacts.org Health Support Volunteer

@@smeshnoymatvey2054 the sugars ferment on your tongue. Try it out yourself. Not every fruit is the same. Peaches or apricots for example improve breath, citruses too Apples and bananas no. The sugars are too " starchy "

@@patrickbateman4541 Really ripe bananas (more or less black spotted peel) dont contains significant amount of starch, the fermentation process takes times so it is not possible.
