Once when I was chopping a tree the log dropped away revealing a creeper on the opposite side from me. Major jump scare! I really like the boat idea to get discs. I think I can handle that. Loads of great info on creepers here, thank you EMC.

Also, with a diamond sword or an axe you can safely dispatch a creeper with a critical hit + a normal hit in quick succession, without having to run away from it. Just land a crit and quickly land another hit, and it's dead before it can explode. Thanks for the nice and relaxed content :)

He could've added the use of critical hit since he focused on utilizing the high ground. Crit attacks have a lot of caveats though and might be why he didn't add it? I think it's also a reactionary thing, DO NOT PANIC! Is easier said than done and requires practice. I enjoyed the vid and especially the tips on boats, great work! Also RajCraft covers Critical Hits beautifully if anyone is interested.

Cats aren't a great creeper repellent. I had a cat near my base's door and the creeper completely ignored it and blew up anyway killing the cat in the process. I like the boat idea to get discs. I've never thought about doing that before and it seems much easier than my old method.

Keep a punch bow in your off hand, a sweeping edge sword in your main. Thats my enemy slaying weapons. Knockback on punch fantastic against creepers or wither skeletons, fantastic ranged option. Even a weak draw can knock an enemy back. Sweeping edge is great against zombie hordes or being overwhelmed

I'm not sure why you would turn away from the creeper when sprint-attacking it. They get knocked back far enough that you just need to back up and they will not explode. Then you are already pointed at it for another sprint-attack. Just stop running and back up as soon as you hit it.

2:01 fun fact the ghast's fireball when hit back by the player has a damage of 1000 hearts because Mojang intends for it to be an instant killing of the ghast for the 'return to sender' achievement

I'd like to add also that knowing if your weapon can two-shot a creeper is VITAL for dealing with harder crowds of enemies. If you are able to have a weapon (e.g. Netherite sword w/ Sharp V), you can crit the first hit, the let the attack bar fill back up and kill it in two hits. Its more dangerous if you aren't precise or careful, but not too bad when you get the hang of it!

Creepers spawn in packs of *up to* four in Java. They can still spawn on their own. But those pack spawns can be deadly!

I just died to a creeper. I was going up a tunnel deep underground that I had never been in before, placing down torches. It was a narrow tunnel, and I could see ahead because of my torches, so I thought I was safe. Suddenly, a creeper who I had never seen exploded on top of me and I died. It was hardcore. I thought it must have spawned out of my butt in a well-lit tunnel, so I went back to spectate. There was another tunnel that joined my tunnel above my head, but you could only see it looking back. You couldn't see it looking forward. So the creeper was waiting on top of a ledge, and when I walked underneath it, it fell on top of me and exploded. I do not know what I could have done to avoid this. I guess maybe in the future I will be paranoid about hidden passages, and repeatedly look behind me even when it appears that there is no way a creeper could be there. I had full iron armor and a stuffed inventory. It sucked.

Useful Creeper fact you missed: you can light a creeper with a flint and steel. If you do so, it will explode, no matter how far away you run!

smelt whatever you can, trade with villagers, hang out at a dungeon spawner killing whatever and build a cheap sky mob grinder .. that’s what I do for early game xp

Here are the two best ways I’ve found for getting XP early on: 1. You get XP from breeding and killing animals, so fence off a small area about 15x15 and have two of each farm animal in it. Then just go around feeding/breeding them all over and over until it’s packed full of animals, then go around and kill most of the adult animals. 2. Mine as much quartz as you can find in the nether. Don’t die or you’ll lose it all!

What i do when i get all my necessities like food and iron, ill search for spawner, its pretty easy to set up an exp farm there. I have zombie spawner and skeleton spawner exp farm near my spawn point.

I usually do not turn around after attacking a creeper with a sword. Instead, I walk backwards and spam click the attack button if I am using a sword made of stone or stronger.

After exploring my world I’ve ended up with a few different bases and i’d like to consolidate into one base - what are some of the most efficient ways to move a lot of items across long distance?

Nether traveling to quickly move from base to base (8x faster) and shulker boxes to transport 27 inventories worth of items. If you really wanna push it further and have 73 shulker boxes, you can also fill an ender chest with shulker boxes and collect it back at destination after you unloaded your ow inventory. This will make the whole process 438 times faster than walking from base to base with a full inventory each travel.

You said "to fully spawnproof an area you only need torches every 12 blocks", I think you mean every 24 blocks? Because each torch spawnproofs 12 blocks away, two torches can spawnproof 24 blocks between them. I'm pretty sure I actually learned that from you, so I know you know it, but your torches in the video do look like they're only 12 block apart instead of 24, so I'm a little confused.

24 blocks away if your in a 1 block wide tunnel like a strip mine but light travels half as far diagonally so you need 1 torch every 12 blocks to fill the space in the x and z axis with light

SUMMARY: - they spawn in a group of 4 in java (1 in bedrock) - only attack you if you are within 16 block (they dont chase you after that radius) - shields will protect you - cats and ocelots scare them away - charged ones cause bigger explosion and drop their heads - if you wear the creeper head, they dont attack you - in water they dont do any damage - can be trapped in boats

The Flame Enchantment on a bow is a one shot kill to the Creeper. Flame Infinity is the Creeper Killer.

Something tells me the reason why Creepers are so deadly is not because players don't know how to deal with them, but because the Creeper has a nasty habit of surprising players. Sneaking up on you in a dense, green forest, or dropping down on top of you in a narrow mine shaft while you're digging. Possibly while you're relaxed, not fully paying attention, watching a video on the sideline or.... god forbid, playing with the sound off.
