I really wanted to like these but what killed it for me was 2 fold. First there's a noticeable gap between the light and the body of the truck all the way around (you can see this especially around the 7:03 mark). Also the bottoms don't seem to sit flush. I see yours were rocking a bit back and forth during install as well (6:00). For $700+ lights I just expected better quality. It didn't help that when I talked to Recon about it the sales rep told me i installed them wrong and sent me to customer service, their customer service rep and technician took a look at the pics and videos I sent and said they were installed correctly with the gaps being normal. The sales rep told me they were wrong and so was I. When I asked for a refund due to defective fitting they charged me a 20% restocking fee.

I can see what your saying and you do have a point. Personally, the slight gap doesn’t bother me. It’s not very large and for someone that isn’t looking for it, they will probably never notice it. As for the lights rocking, once they are fully mounted in with the mounting screws, there is absolutely no rocking. But again, I can see where you’re coming from. I was initially expecting them to sit as flush to the truck as the factory ones, but the slight gap isn’t enough to bother me especially since I love the style that these lights have and the added look they give to the truck.

It would've been more helpful to see the transitions in the day and the night as well as a farther view away while showing the transitions to understand better the brightness levels between the 4 different lights stages; off, parking lights, brake lights, and reverse.

I’m debating between these for $700 or just buying air release tint film for the smoked effect buy Luxe, which is highly recommended tint film, and it cost way under 100 bucks. They have a light, medium, and dark smoke option, and it looks really nice, just as nice as these for a third of the cost.

It wasn’t just about the smoke tint for me. The other reason I went with all new taillights is that I like the shape and design of the lights themselves inside the housing/lens better than the factory ones. I think the taillights look better when lit up and the design just has a better look to it than the factory taillights.

The lights look nice but not $700 nice. I am of the “mod” school that a mod to my truck shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. It should give high impact / value at a affordable cost or give me an option that is usually found in a higher trim model.🍺

They are a little pricey, but everyone has their own definition of “value”. I feel like the improved look of the truck (getting rid of those bright red tinted factory lights) is worth it. 🍻

Did your truck have halogen or LED taillights? If they were halogen, did you by the halogen version of the taillights from Recon? If you installed LED taillights on a truck that is set up for halogen, that may be the problem.

Then I’m not sure what the issue is. I have not had any hyper flashing issues. Have you tried contacting Recon to see if they can help? Their contact people were pretty responsive when I contacted them about the orders I placed for the 3rd brake light and then taillights. Hopefully they have some support people that can help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Sorry I can’t be of further help.

My sticker for my trail boss said led classic tail lights but my truck has incandescent. So the dealer is adding them now. Verify this didnt happen to you.

My original taillights are LED, but I’m not looking to sell them. I’m keeping those (at least for a while) in case I have any issues with these aftermarket taillights. I don’t expect to have issues, but I’d rather have my original set in case something unexpected happens and I need to switch them back.

Hey I bought a 2020 silverado rst at an auction but the taillights were missing and I bought some oem tailights that came off of a silverado ltz and they work but when I turn on the blinkers it starts hyper flashing, how can that problem be fixed?

To be completely honest, I’m not sure. I know that hyper flashing can happen if someone installs LED lights on a vehicle that is not set up for LEDs, but an RST should be LED ready from the factory so the taillights out of an LTZ should work.

That’s interesting. LTZ trucks should come with LED taillights from the factory as part of their standard equipment. You may want to look at getting LED taillights, though, for your RST.

I’ve had issues with my rear window twice due to leaking. The first time the dealership resealed the top of the window. Then it started leaking again and the dealership completely replaced it after that. Based on what I’ve heard, the leaking rear window is really only an issue on trucks with the sliding rear glass. Other than that the truck has been great.

That’s interesting. I know the 2022 has the refresh, but the rear of the truck is basically the exact same as 2019-2021. I would not have expected the taillight wiring harness to be different. Have you reached out to Recon to see if they have an updated kit for the new harness?

RECON LIGHTS: 3rd Brake Light with Camera. you have been warned You knowingly sell a defective product that doesn’t fit and pretend to be clueless about it. When it’s already been well documented your company is aware of this . Then the financial burden falls on the customer to send it back under “ warranty “ exactly the way it was sent to me . Original box and packaging. You are purposely selling a defective product I have proof your company is doing this knowing your product is defective. Then they will make up any reason to get out of refunding your money . Customers shouldn’t be put in this situation to begin with if your company was honest. So I will on principle do whatever I can legally to expose your dishonest practices.

You do realize that I’m not Recon, nor am I affiliated with them in any way. I’m not sure why your comment keeps saying “You” like you are blaming me for your bad experience. You need to be speaking with Recon. I’ve only had good experiences with them and I know plenty of others that have had good experiences with them and their products. I’m leaving your comment on this video because it helps with the KZbin algorithm, but I can guarantee that posting this on my video is not going to get Recon’s attention. How are yours holding up mine are having major issues,. The turn signals are acting up and my reverse camera comes on now when I brake,. Called recon they are sending out a new wiring harness and capacitors,. I have to pay for shipping,. Had them working fine for only. 3 months.
