In today's video, I'm going to talk to you about how to niche down in your art business and why it's important. I'm also going to give you three tips in order to to be able to do that.
🔹You don't have to niche down to one subject or one medium. You can still explore those but just have a common thread.
🔹Create a body of work and naturally in that you're going to really explore and form work that is connected and tied together anyway.
🔹Always come at it from a standpoint of what is my why as an artist, what do I find really interesting and exciting and what do I get passionate about? Because if you do that your work will always have your signature

Thanks, very helpful, good points! I do tend to jump around a lot, between very tidy mandalas, layered paint-over collages, messier paintings... I think what ties it together is lots of colour, certain colours I always gravitate towards, lots of detail, harmony, uplifting images. My why, my motivation: create beauty. Will try and focus more on these binding elements. Thank you!

I keep arguing with my mother about this. I tell her I don't want to sell my old body of work I created before I wanted to sell my art and put it out there because it's completely different to what I am doing with my art now. She keeps telling me to put it all out there and I say No. it will make me look like I don't know who I am as an artist. interestingly though the theme of that original portfolio of work I did has been speaking to me again even though I ate developing a very new more abstract style of working. n
