When I was a young boy, I used to go to the skatepark at 8am before anyone else got there because I was anxious the older boys would make fun of me. There was always one much older guy there in the mornings and he was honestly the most supportive person I have met in my life. He used to call me "Asta" because I had long hair like professional skateboarder Tom Asta. One day, another older boy started to call me "Asta Mouth", which is actually pretty funny, but the supportive older guy laid his ass out with the fiercest can of whoop-ass I've ever seen. Some people are mean, some people are really nice. Just be yourself because it's not going to change who THEY are. A few years passed and I beat the mean kid in a game of SK8 and we have always been cool since then. Sometimes respect is given, and sometimes respect is earned.

I went to a skatepark for the first and only time with my friend, and we both brought longboards, since neither of us own skateboards. At one point, my friend lost control of his board, and it knocked another guy down who was coming off a trick. The guy he knocked down was super chill about it, but nobody else helped retrieve my friend’s board as it rolled across the park, and people just made fun of him for longboarding and for losing control of his board. Genuinely been scared to return to the skate park since then.
