Brilliant advice as per man! 👏🏼👏🏼 I also try and visit a new venue in person a week or so before a new gig, so you can familiarise yourself with the area and what’s it’s like inside setting up etc. Everyone who has got their first gig coming up needs to see this video 🔥

I remember many years ago when I first started DJing in nightclubs, needing to take folders and folders of CDs. Now I just need, if I was still doing nightclubs, to take a couple of USB drives and have hundreds of thousands of songs. It is quite amazing, really.

CDs? Try crates of vinyl, its probably why im so much weaker these days, USBs are making me lose my gains. 🤣

Hi karl. Done a 60th birthday Saturday evening, got a playlist for wat they wanted eg 70,s/80,s .a room with about 80people or so. Only 10 people danced ,I was told no irish ballads&no rave/dance songs. Is it normal that 90%people didn't dance 🤔 is it there prefence. 99% of gigs I have full floor, just that night thought wud have had more .thanks dermo 😊

Private gigs it really does depend on the crowd and with a smaller crowd that is sometimes much harder work. If you stuck to the brief they gave you that’s all you can do. If you have had success on other nights I think it must have just been one of those gigs where no matter what you play they just don’t get up and move haha! We’ve all been there

@@dermotowens1977 I find that at weddings and birthday parties, a lot of the time the clients appreciate the music not being as loud because they can use it at the beginning of the night to socialise and catch up with friends and family that they haven't seen in a while, and then later in the night, as they've had a few more drinks, the dance floor starts feeling a bit more lively, and I turn the music up. It tends to work when I do that sort of event.

@Jbaxter736 appreciate it 🙏 the feedback I'll keep it in mind. Understand they want to catch-up and chat and as u say the more they drink the more they might dance, so mite pump it up a little more thanks 😊

@djkarlthomas thanks karl really only happened once before. As u said that's the playlist I was given and had to respect it and not goin of course to play other genres to keep other's happy as it was the lady's birthday wishes that counts .she had a gud nite and got thumbs 👍 from hubby&family... when I see people dancing 🕺 I think I'm doin OK and that's my job/buzz once seen everyone enjoying there nite. Hope it doesn't happen offen or I'll retire 🤣🤣thanks again for ya advice known its not down to me if majory of people don't dance. Love the videos keep them coming cheers dermo from Dublin 🩵

@@dermotowens1977 You're more than welcome, my friend. And I'll always try and help young DJs or upcoming DJs when I see comments like this because I had a lot of help from my uncle Mike back in the day, and that's how I became well-balanced and got the experience, so I'm always willing to help people like you.
