In this tutorial I'll show you how to oil a sewing machine. This tutorial was requested by hupo. My machine is an old Nelco, so it may be a bit different than yours if you have a newer machine, but should give you general idea. If you still have your machine's user manual, it will show the exact points to oil for your specific machine, but if not, you can just use the "common sense" oiling method. Basically you want to oil all the moving parts (but not the actual engine).

Aw cool! My paternal grandmother had a machine like that. My maternal grandmother had a brother model of vaguely similar design but was electric. My paternal grandmother's machine went to one of my aunts on that side, and the brother was passed to my mom, which she's passed to me. I've no idea if the singer still works, but the brother doesn't. If I had been able to get it fixed, I would likely be sewing on it rather than using it as a desk for my electric singer. It's been a homework desk, art desk, catch-all, entertainment center, and a vanity a various different points over the years. I may eventually use it as an altar table, or maybe not. Tyvm for the oil tips, I hadn't thought of slicking anything that moves. :-) Takes a lot of the guesswork out of it.

Hello, I have Nelco 6102 FAS I can not open the top, no screws. Your is the same? I need help. Thanks

Mine is a Nelco SZ-206, so I think it's a probably a little older. I've never seen a 6102, so I'm not sure how the top opens if there aren't any screws. It might just be a "pop top" that opens with no screws (but don't force it, or you might break it). If it doesn't open at the top, you might have to take it to a sewing machine shop so someone can show you how to open it for oiling. Or see if you can find an old manual for your model online, and it should show you how the top opens if it's meant to.
