Just did this on my hair and it looks amazing!! The only things I did differently were that I used a balayage comb which does the weaving for you and I used the shrine drop it toner drops right after as well as purple shampoo. Can't believe I almost spent £160 in a salon on it!!

Right? I am sure they charged an arm and a leg too! I went to a salon and asked for the ombre defect and literally when she was done my hair looked the same as when I walked in. My hair is a darker brown. I was so upset! I was charged almost $300 dollars! I got home and was solo upset I decided it wasn't right that I paid THAT MUCH and I am so unhappy with it. So I went online to their website and sent an email. The stylist emailed me back and I got scheduled to come back in to get it redone! Then I was happy. She didn't I guess "understand" what I wanted!?! Like your a hair stylist and you don't know what the ombre is?

So the developer part is wrong with it being stated for thin,thick med hair. The volume on developer is how much of a lift you want to achieve. If you have super dark hair and you want a level 10 you're going to use either a 30 or 40, safest being 30 since 40 can develop faster than some people can work on their hair. They can also be mixed with eachother, let's say you have a 40 and a 10 volume at home, if you mix equal parts you achieve a 30.

@Nah481
@Nah481 9 ай бұрын
Volume is not just about the hair coarseness. It's also about the lift time. And when you are using bleach she probably want a little bit longer time before the bleach actually expires. Like with 40 VOL the bleach will expire much faster than with 20 VOL

Thank you so much for making this video.🌸 I have wanted to try this out, but I have a question. Do you have to use the toner, or is it something that only shall be used if you think the hair has become too light or brassy?
@nightrizerr
@nightrizerr 3 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to, but if you want to get another colour after bleaching you can
@Lindasaur
@Lindasaur 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Emma! :) So glad you liked this video Toner is typically used to get rid of "brassiness" - the orange-ish, brassy tone that hair takes on after being bleached or lightened. Toner is used to make the hair "ashy", or more grey- and blonde-toned, so toner is not necessarily used when hair is too light. If you have black / dark brown hair, bleaching it might make it brassy / orange - and toner would make it ashy. If you have light brown / blonde hair, bleaching hair would make it more blonde - and toner would make it more platinum and ashy

Hey! How many times do you bleach your hair? Do you ever go back to rebleach the same sections to make them lighter?
@Lindasaur
@Lindasaur 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy! I bleach 1-2x per year :) Great question on rebleaching hair sections - I do rebleach pieces. Once my hair grows longer, I apply this same process again to “move the ombre higher” up my hair, so the previously bleached sections are bleached again. I haven’t found this to be noticably damaging though - I use Olaplex’s no. 6 bond smoother and argan oil after each wash to keep my bleached hair looking healthy

Thanks for the video, I usually have my hair done at salon, but funds are tight & I’m going to try it myself. I’m concerned with the amount of product you used or really the amount you didn’t use😂? Had you used more product would the color have been brighter, maybe blonder? My hair is very dark & my bleached parts are a lot brighter/whiter, which I like. Do I need toner to make it whiter, or use more product, or just leave it on longer? Your color is awesome on you, it’s just not for me, I’m beginning to get some grey & the lighter the highlights, the more the grey blends. Also isn’t this an Ombré? Ombre is dark & goes to light, a balayage is light and goes to dark? Have you ever tried the opposite look? Thanks again for the video.
@arilibove-goldfarb4717

Yeah you'll want to let it process longer and might have to repeat this a second time lower down on the hair if you want to go from dark to very blonde

Hi! I have a question -- the top layer over trick would only work if you've previously bleached your hair, right? For unbleached hair, would you recommend i do the top layer (saturated at the bottom and a little blended at the top) or would that look weird? Sorry I'm a newbie lol
@Lindasaur
@Lindasaur 2 жыл бұрын

@Lindasaur
@Lindasaur 3 жыл бұрын
I’ll make a follow-up video on how to apply toner! You would apply the toner after the entire balayage/ombre process. Basically, to use toner: 1. Dampen /wet your hair 2. Mix toner with developer. Follow the directions on the toner bottle to do that. It’s usually 1 part toner, 1 part developer. 3. Apply to all hair, making sure to saturate the hair. 4. Leave toner on for 10-30minutes, depending on how the hair color changes to your liking. 5. Wash off, shampoo and condition :)

I have a question, would I be able to do the process with color?
@Lindasaur
@Lindasaur 3 жыл бұрын
Hm... I’m not sure actually! Usually, hair stylists use bleach to lighten hair, because bleach “removes” color pigment from hair. Dyeing hair with color dye “adds” or deposits color to the hair. You could try out the process with color dye, but bleaching would more permanently lighten hair. I hope this helps!!

Although your hair turned out fine and pretty btw, this is NOT BALAYAGE technique … you are not free form painting - you are doing a basic foil on ends - Also a professional Ombre is not going from dark to light fade its creating a base color up top - learn how light client wants at the ends and then you do what needs to done to have colors or tones that shade into each other …. Licensed hair stylist for over 20 years… Hope this is received with love and respect .. I just would want someone else thinking the is an accurate Balayage. Glad to see so many taking charge over their own hair may not be good for my industry lol but you guys are so cool willing to take challenges on yourself and make it your OWN ….
