I’m currently experiencing this issue, went through the wheel well, pulled on the cables, nothing. Took apart the pull handle in the interior, nothing. Any other alternatives?? One of the cables has some slack, assuming it’s the passenger side like you suggested. Help😩

Take the wheel off on the passenger side instead and you should be able to reach the cable up pass the reservoir tank

In this case, the problem is that the hood won't pop at all with the lever on left bottom at the driver? Or it does pop but then the lever at the middle of the hood is stuck? Because I have the second problem. 🤔
@BimmaJoc Жыл бұрын
Either way if you follow the video instructions….it should still open
Жыл бұрын
@@BimmaJoc So my problem was indeed different (simpler). The pull wires / latches were fine. My only problem was that the lever in the middle of the hood, which you use to open it after unlocking from the driver side, was completely stuck. I wasn't able to get in there myself even after spraying it a bit with WD-40 (also I wasn't sure if I didn't have the problem described in this video) so I took it to the garage and they were able to open it after some struggle. Once opened, it just needed some more oil + moving it up and down for a while and it's fine now. So just take it as a reminder, that mechanism also needs to be oiled once in a while.
@drew25405 жыл бұрын
you can use something to wedge the driver side enough to grab that cable... once you get the cable use a metal coat hanger, wrap around the passenger cable and then wrap that coat hanger around a screw driver or something to give u pulling leverage. give it a yank and the hood will open ask me how i know... after watching countless videos and giving up 10+ times in my garage lol
@BimmaJoc5 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what i did with my previous bmw....i was going to mention that on this video but then I realized how unsafe it was and not the best thing to show how to do on my channel....the thing about the way you mentioned....whatever your wedging can slip and fall while you are trying to reach the cable then your arm can be at risk ....i even made a video about that a couple years ago ...and deleted it because of safety....i try my best to stick with what the book says to do...that has all the correct answers

@@BimmaJoc I have removed my wheel well liner I have pulled on both of the cables even very hard and it’s still not even budging, the latch had been very hard to pull prior to when it seized up and going through the wheel, well worked the first time this happened, I did not know to oil the latches or I would have done that while they were open, it has worked several times since then but now it has seized up again, and it will not even loosen with the cable underneath the wheel well. As I’m holding onto the junction box, I can feel the latch itself from the inside is working, but the latches themselves will not release. Is there any other safe alternative or way to get this hood open?

Seriously screw BMW, they make beautiful cars but are absurdly over complicated and you have shit like this happen and all us owners are chumps, why is something like this allowed to even happen on a $50k+ car. I had an E92 for two years and spend an insane amount of money fixing issues that never should have been there in the first place. Although I kinda respect BMW for ripping off clueless rich people, if you buy one of these cars new you kinda deserve it the regular trips to the dealership you’ll have to make. Unless you have the value of the car saved away just for maintenance costs, stay away. I think BMW will be successful in their crusade against user repairs in the future and fixing their self-fabricated problems like this one will become a crime. Hey German engineering amirite?
