Hi I’m sending you a message from Annapolis Maryland. I recently lost my husband in May and I have a large house and I’m by myself. So I’ve started to do a lot of things myself. Just from remembering how he did things. But I fell onto your channel and I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to watch your videos especially a woman doing all these things it has actually empowered me. And just today I was trying to figure out how to work a caulking gun and here you are with this great video so thank you and keep them coming

I HEART this woman. I was staring at the directions on a tube of sylicone caulk and realized I needed HELP. This video plus "How to Caulk a Bathtub with Silicone" told me everything I needed to know (and more than my husband knew). Super practical and easy to understand, gave me the confidence to do this job myself.

Why would anybody dislike this video I'm a woman and I have never fixed a thing at home and I just realized I have ants coming out of tiny holes everywhere in my bathroom and I have not been able to sleep because every time I go to the bathroom there's ants and I hate knowing they might be on me so I found this thing about caulk went to the store bought it and also the cheap gun and I did exactly what she said not to do which was just cut the top and I kept pressing and nothing was coming out because I didn't know I had to puncture it and then I also use my scissors to cut the tip I didn't know I could have used the gun anyhow in less than 5 minutes she fixed an answer all of my questions! Because I just cleaned my bathroom and I was ready to do the caulking and then I said okay now I don't know what to do because nothing is coming out of the tube and now I can just go back in 5 minutes thank you THANK YOU and I also have to say that after doing my first caulking I realized that I have done a much cleaner beautiful job than the guys my mom hired who had done the previous one because they just caulked all the surrounding metal parts and it's messy thick they didn't even clean around the wall or the fixtures all uneven! my job was much cleaner, filled all holes but also with attention to detail not uneven or just splattering around fixtures! anyways the point is that I was afraid doing these things but I realize sometimes we might even be better than men at them... im sure it depends who one hires but spending 100+ for super easy things we can do.... I also painted my rooms and I'm also now filling wholes with that thing that expands like foam

Thank You for a great video. I have watched other videos about caulking, but they don't show how to open and store a tube of caulk or how to use each part of the caulk gun. I am the son of a countryman who knew how to fix everything. However, born in the city, I never asked my dad can I do some of the maintenance around the house. After my late father passed away in 2013, I had to learn how to do maintenance around my mother's house through trial and error (lots of errors).

@DIYHIPChicks3 жыл бұрын
HI well I didn't know so I researched a little. Not much info out there. I am going to say not recyclable bc of need to separate metal threads from the plastic. I would drop off at an electricians shop or tech school. Or donate to Habitat for Humanity ReStore. They can resell them for charity funding
@clevelandexplorer22213 жыл бұрын
@@DIYHIPChicks I wasn't aware of "restore" places, I'll look into that! If I'm honest I was taken back a little when you said the reason to cap it is because of reuse later, not buying more-economy over environment. However, that night at Wilko I bought two £1 caulking guns, these caps are freaking awesome! Way better than a screw, actually, as I had been using. Usings a screw is now my thing when I'm a pinch, it's great but no proper seal. It's the little things :') and they were sold alongside plastic screw caps like what you used too.
