This laptop model is very new, is not common that you need a new battery... Well, battery model is NV-4267121-2S. One of them was available in ebay but it is sold... I don´t know where you can buy a new one right now.

I’ve seen so many websites that say you can upgrade to 12 gigs of ram by adding an eight because the four gig installed is soldered in. Is there not a spot for the 8 gigabyte ram stick. And why did they weld it to the motherboard ? just to be difficult !!! That’s what I get for spending less than $200 on Black Friday but it’s a good Internet computer with windows 11.. although the battery died within a year and puffed up to the point where it broke the plastic on the back.

Wow the battery was your worst... And yes they solder the ram so you receive a laptop that you can't upgrade... Programmed obsolescence

You should try to take it to a repair store to check if they can fix the motherboard. There is no other way to recover the info

I opened mine because it will turn off if not plugged in, and the inside of it seems like a mess. I don't know if the assembler just did it differently or just did it wrong. The board with the ss, audio jack, type-c plug in and the card port is not covered like the one in the video and there is pieces of tape on the motherboard where it does not seem necessary unless it's broken and my ribbon from the battery to the motherboard has a green spot on it. It's all covered in dirty fingerprints and this is the first time I've opened it so they're not mine. Idk if this is all for a reason, but it looks nothing like the one in the video

May be it is a refurbished laptop? ... You bought it as a new one but internally was refurbished

My daughter won this laptop in a Christmas raffle brand new, but just a couple of months later it shuts off if unplugged, after a bit of being plugged it also shuts off. Gateway won’t fix it under warranty, cause we don’t have a receipt. I’ve tried a factory reset, but it doesn’t go through since it keeps shutting off. @2tech any solutions on what I should do and what could be the problem? Also do you know how much fixing it should cost?

Based on the limited information you’ve provided, it sounds like a faulty battery or maybe the plug is loose. In a situation like this, it’s hard to offer an accurate diagnose unless you open up the computer. How comfortable are you in opening up a laptop for diagnosis?

Buy a replacement lithium battery and replace. Easy fix and shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 minutes! 👍

If it shuts down and turns on in a loop the problem is the keyboard, if you mantain pressed any key the laptop will stay on

Yes, you can increase the store on this laptop. @1:21 in the video you'll see that open square. That is where you can put an external hard drive on there. I have th is same one but the Minecraft edition and upgraded my storage with a 2.5" SSD.

Acer acquired Gateway over a decade ago, but the brand itself has long been dead. Acer then, in 2020, licensed the name to a cheap Chinese e-waste MFG, so can forget about any support. As for parts, only option it to scour ebay, maybe find one with a broken screen. To save 0.5mm, KB's are no longer replaceable, the entire upper frame would need to be replaced.

i have a list of reasons since i have this exact laptop 1. battery replacement required 2. could have been damaged or tampered with in shipping 3. throwing/abuse of laptop 4. overheating (common thing for this model) 5. could have been used on soft surface and overheated the processor or burnt something important 6. if it started working 2 days ago, then something inside the laptop could be partially damaged. 7. tampered with laptops components/damaged hard disc. all i can think of for now. number 2 is the most common one to happen. overheating is also very common too. i would recommend getting someone who knows how to fix it. because my most common problem is overheating, but yeah. you should see somebody thats an expert at this stuff.
