My mother passed in 2009, my father passed in 2017, and I'm now preparing to scatter their combined ashes. Your kind, thoughtful video has helped me move one step closer to doing so. Thank you for sharing and for helping so many people honor their dear ones' wishes.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I live in Lubbock, Texas and death has hit us hard. May you and your family be blessed throughout this endeavor. Death is not something we want, but it too shall pass. 🌹

Thank you for sharing this video. It was a great help, and made me feel less worried about the process. I just opened two black boxes, the same design as yours. I used a slot screwdriver, just a plain screwdriver, and pressed it down into the edge of the box, angled the screwdriver and the lid popped open without any trouble. So in addition to scissors, a screwdriver works too. Thanks again.

Thank you and bless you for sharing this personal experience with those of us also struggling (with grief and literally with the urn!). It's hard enough to lose our loved ones, why do they make you do homework and a puzzle box on top of it!

@Amy Rou thank you for viewing my video. Yes, I've lost many family members; none due to covid but I am always here to help anybody in need. That's just who I am, even in these dark times. You're very welcome. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. ❤️

You're very welcome! It's such a sad day and age that we live in I just believe in loving everybody and being a good human being. Which means we should learn to share our knowledge with each other. There weren't any videos out there so I just figured I would share my experience with everyone. Thank you so much for watching I'm sure you're going through your own experience and I will pray for you and your family ❤️

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I just can’t tell you how helpful this video was to me. I lost my mother, my father, my grandma, and my brother all starting mid 2020 to this fall. I’ve been so overwhelmed and unable to find any information on how to go about opening these. If they’re pried open in this way, will they be able to close again or do I need to transfer to another Urn? I wish this information was more readily available and accessible.

They won't close and "stay closed" after opening. I transferred my ashes in small glass sealed jars for the family. I'll put the video clip on here. Didn't think to do that on KZbin. I try to place video clips of things not found. Thus me.making this clip. Glad it helped. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost 4 you lost many more. Just rmemeber the great times and know they are at rest now. This world has gotten so ugly, I wouldn't want to see anyone in pain 🥺😭 bless you. Stay STRONG my friend. 💪🏽

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just got my mother's remains in and her is in a grey box. Maybe because I'm from Massachusetts? Not to sure.. But this box I have is glued closed so I may have to cut into it.. Thank for the video and God bless!

So sorry for your loss. I believe these are mass produced. If it's glued yes, watch out with the knife but it opens the same way. Bless you, keep your head up and remain strong. I believe in you. 💗

I’m sorry for your loss. The medallion has a number and it’s an ID medallion. From the time the body is prepared to be cremated and the paperwork with the certificate are made. The number on the ID medallion are typed on every piece of paper because that is part of the deceased after that. The medallion is placed in the retort with the deceased for the protection of the funeral home, the deceased and the crematory operator in case anything was to happen. If for some reason the crematory operator leaves for something has an accident and died. With the ID medallion you can identify the cremated remains.

I’m trying to figure out how to open my Dad’s. Mom’s was just like this with a lid on top, but his is a solid wood box. There’s no flaps or anything.

I guess I got lucky with my moms box, or not. I didn't even have to pry her box open. Her box is exactly the same but the lid to her box just pops right open. I'm not real comfortable about that because the box is just cheap plastic and if it gets knocked down it could easily pop open and the bag of ashes fall out and the bag could get torn open on anything sharp. I mean I doubt that this will happen but with as flimsy as this box is I could see it happening so easily.
