I've always thought the D7R was a Prized Stallion in the Dozer world. Its not small but nor is it too big. The engine has a lovely purr to it.

I watch this video because between pandemics, global crisis and war you never know when a zombie apocalypse can occur and a buldozzer can always come in handy. always better to be prepared 🤣🤣

Hey bro great intro... I used to operate those D7, D6 and D8. Now I mostly operate the D5 K which is pretty cool for fine grading and finishing works. ❤️

Thats different then a d6 lol or d4 or d5 or different from a Deere 650 or 700lgp I think the high tracks are different controls as well but the controls are in the same position an sides tho. Just different style handles
@CodyDyckEngines Жыл бұрын
Our D6T, D7R(s), and D8R all have these same controls, all high tracks. The D5H is a high track, but a little bit different and 3 and 4 are entirely different machines.
@phillipmoore6295 Жыл бұрын
Yeah so, not all machine controls are the same. That control is called a "tiller" control. Used to "operate" the machine, not drive it. But yo can also get (newer) machines with "standard " controls. Which would be two steering clutches. Or, "fingertip " controls, which has two small flat toggles that you press (with your fingers) to steer. If you go back a little in time. Bulldozers had two steering clutches and two brakes. If you go back even further in time. They had two steering clutches, two brakes, and two pedal clutches. Further still, add a "Johnson bar" to engage and disengage the transmission. I have Operated all of these machines. They all have to be operated differently, depending on circumstances. Especially when turning going down a steep grade. Personally I like the tiller control the best. My D9R with tiller control and ripper. Could spin like a top, if I wanted it to. No other control allows you to spin the tracks in the opposite direction. Peace. IUOE Local 15, 38yrs ret.

A D7R has good pushing power but it doesn’t matter if it’s a D7,D10 or D11 with a full blade sometimes the you squeeze the controls and push your feet into the floor wanting and hoping for more power lol
@CodyDyckEngines Жыл бұрын
Haha with your teeth clenched hoping it doesn’t break traction so you don’t have to back up and take another run
@glendyck784611 ай бұрын
Operated 977 mostly for 18 years and I found that I was always looking to squeeze every bit of power out of it. Great machine to run.

What I'd like to know is, why do some manufacturers tend to put an ungodly amount of stuff, cylinders, 2 extra ft tall of hood above the engine and giant dashes and smoke stack right in front of your forward line of sight, while some other manufacturers have a more curved and slopped hood, smaller shorter dash area, and cylinders that ride off to the side? Are the engineers brain dead? Or do they think it's funny or what?

Torque converter.. it looks to be hydrostatic drive
@CodyDyckEngines2 жыл бұрын
The forward and reverse are mechanical drive. It does however have hydraulic drive motors that spin the pinion gears in the differential to steer. That’s why you need high RPM to steer. In this application (the D7), hydraulic drive wouldn’t have enough torque, much like climbing a hill with a combine.

Trust me, it was one of my biggest pet peeves. But at the time I filmed the video we ran a split shift sharing equipment, and you probably can guess how the old guy on the other shift responded when I'd bring it up
