I know this video is 8 years old, but it is GOLD! I've always had electric awnings on previous campers. I got a great deal on a well taken care of older camper and was perplexed as to how to correctly deploy the awning. THANK YOU!!!!

New camper owner and fulltimer here. This was very helpful, thank you! I especially appreciated that you didn't do a five hundred word essay on what you were going to show us first that so many "how to" vloggers tend to do. So, thank you for that too! 🩵

Seems quite simple, once you see it done. The order of operation is essential. The first time we used our awning we had a bit of trouble getting it re-stowed because we failed to reverse the operation correctly. After some aggravation and frustration, we finally figured it out. Here, the correct sequence is shown clearly.

Thanks for this video! My husband always does the awning. I have done it too. My husband is away and NOAA radio woke me. I could not remember which to do first! You just saved my awning!! 😊

Ditto! We're blessed to have folks who take their time to make how to videos! I'm 50something widow and I've changed thermostats, laptop keyboards, installed new garbage disposal all from KZbin tutorials! Now I've purchased a used 18' Airstream RV and I knew nothing about how to do anything on an RV. Other than common sense, I've learned everything else via KZbin!

Good video for basic operation but skipped two very important steps. First is about the rafter arms. When opening the awning, before you tighten the black knob put some downward pressure on the outer end of the awning arm. Maintaining this downward pressure while tightening the black knobs will add tension to the awning fabric so it's not so loose and sagging looking. The second is an optional step about the awning arms, so they're not angled downward in the way of your freely walk under your awning from front or back of your trailer. Pressing the switch where the awning arm connects to the lower side of you trailer releases them so the arm can be swung outward, placed on the ground like a support post. The holes are there so you can stake then to the ground, keeping them in place which will avoid damaging the awning if things get windy. Doing this optional step adds one step to closing the awning cause you first have to clip the awning arms back onto the side of the trailer. Then follow the rest of the steps in this video for closing the awning.

You’re supposed to press the awning down before tightening the screw knobs on the arms to make the awning more taught.

@ttackett15339 жыл бұрын
the pull down strap should be centered, rather than all the way to one side, as he has it. That's why the awning didn't want to come down evenly.
@KSparks805 жыл бұрын
Yes. Leave it in the center. You can slide it out of the way to either side after you're done opening it. Just be sure to slide it to the center before you roll it up. It'll be a lot easier to open it up evenly that way, instead of pulling on just one end of the roller.
