I prefer using GIMP, it's free and open source and is available in Windows, MacOS & Linux. You can also export in webp formant which it much smaller then any JPG or PNG can be as it was designed for web in mind.

yes, you have extra knowledge. I never made use of gimp, its too complicated for me. Maybe you could do a tutorial :)

I use the exact same method. Figuring out the size of the container is a must. To resize the images surprisingly windows painter does it perfectly! I usually resize then compress plus use image compressor plugin to get best possible results. Yet it's so time consuming.... I also don't feel good about online compressing for security reasons

Hi Jasmine, Sometimes the old school programs are still good for something :) I was thinking about adding in something about using an image compressor plugin as well, but the difference in optimization isn’t that much and it would defeat the purpose of the video. Thanks for watching!

I have a channel that covers HTML/CSS and if I ever work on it regularly again, I’ll cover JavaScript/PHP/MySQL. So it’s not really custom coding for WordPress, just basic code for any website on the internet.

There are good, free desktop image resizers for both Mac and PC. Can do it in bulk with presets. Much faster than all this uploading and downloading.
