सूरत के स्टेशन पर हमेशा भीड़ रहने का प्रमुख कारण है कि सूरत की आबादी पचास लाख है और सूरत रेलवे स्टेशन शहर का मुख्य स्टेशन है। मुंबई से आने वाली सभी ट्रेन जो अहमदाबाद और दिल्ली की और जाती है उन सभी को प्लेटफॉर्म 1 पर लिया जाता है जबकि प्लेटफॉर्म 2 और 3 पर मुंबई की तरफ जाने वाली ट्रेनों को लिया जाता है। इसी कारण प्लेटफॉर्म 1 पर हमेशा बहुत भीड़ रहती है। सूरत स्टेशन अपनी कैपेसिटी से अधिक ट्रेन झेल रहा है।
