Great video. I actually started doing folders as well and the unreleased folder is a great idea. Also the bag organizer turns on a light bulb for me. Thank you.

What do you think to going back and forth through genres in a set like start with house, go more techy then back to house etc? Or do you think it should be more strict as in do all your house at the start then go go tech and stay there instead of jumping back and forth?

I think play however you feel.. there isn't a rule book for DJing

hi mate loving the content, just wondering what camera and mic you are using to record the videos :)

Back in the day...ie twenty years ago in the midst of acid House we took a bag of records and you programmed as the night dictated...how would you know what to play in advance???
@joshbakermusic3 жыл бұрын
Sure and there’s times I do this also. But if I’m being booked to play at a certain club for a certain promoter I can get a rough idea what vibes will be best received. Don’t misinterpret the fact I mention a few times DJing is a feeling these are just some steps I take to be better prepared.

Josh, on the digital side, I noticed you didn't mention using Mixed in Key, Platinum Notes or any other pre-programming? Do you just not bother? Totally understand not trying to formulise/make it a boring
@joshbakermusic2 жыл бұрын
I do not bother. I just mix records that sound good together. Who knows if they're in key... but sounds good to me.

Awesome video josh thanks. Do you have any recommendations on learning to mix in key with vinyl? I find that being my biggest challenge right now and haven’t been able to find much info on good ways to learn keys to keep things sounding more cohesive. Thanks again Tim
@joshbakermusic3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't over think things being in key. If the records sound good together they sound good together. I mix of feeling and vibes!
