As a former camera assistant (now DP) I can't tell you how much I appreciate seeing someone on youtube who actually takes the time to properly label and organize their gear! Those shelves could roll right onto a 5 ton camera truck and fit right in.

Very nice set up. Well organized. I appreciate you sharing this with us. It's always good to see what other professionals are doing. I work for a small Marketing and Advertising company and I am the entire video production department (and I'm almost 70 years old, really!). I keep most our our gear in Pelican type cases, also on big metal shelves in a large storage room in our office. Everything is labeled. Unfortunately, we have a very old and somewhat small van. So, I load up all the camera gear on our two-shelf Krane 750 cart (I did a video about this amazing cart and it's on KZbin), then take it out to the van where I store everything in it's assigned area in the van. Then, I break down the cart and put it in the back. When I get to the job, I rebuild the cart and load it up with everything I'll need including lights and some grip equipment. Some stands we roll in on their own wheels or sometimes our grip brings his cart if we know we're going to need a lot of light gear. This is a small city so we have to have all of our lighting and grip equipment because there is no one with a truck full of rentable gear until you get to Dallas, 125+ miles away. If you can get a bunch of soundproofing foam squares and rectangles, plus a nice big rug, I'll bet you can make your new studio much quieter. I worked with a production company that needed a lot of soundproofing foam for their new studio, so they went to the factory where it was made and offered to take all the scraps off their hands. The company was glad to get rid of it, so it was free! They patched it together gluing it on the walls of their studio. They was all different sized and colors so it looked weird but they covered it with a thick, black drape that looked good and added further soundproofing. Good luck on that and in the future.

Congrats on the new space, its huge! Your current storage is so clean and organized, its clear that it took steps to get to that point. I use Ptouch to label everything as well, but I also use different colors of camera/gaffers tape to "code" my peli cases. Everything is still labeled, but Audio for example, has a stripe of blue, lighting has red. This gives me a clear visual when I'm too far away to read the label. This technique is derived from the Filipino method of finding your brightly ribbon'ed luggage from airport baggage claims.

In an effort to be more organized, I've switched from using smaller 1510s to using larger Nanuk cases. I'm able to fit my entire RED kit in one case, including filters, mattebox, a bit of audio, and a Teradek kit. Another case I have set up to hold my flight kit with a couple of lights that I find myself always renting. Same with batteries and monitors. Most of my work is coming from traveling jobs, and it costs the same to check a small pelican as it does a larger pelican, so it's more cost effective to carry more in fewer cases. I'm finding 1510s get gate checked pretty regularly on smaller planes, so I rarely fly with them, and anything that's delicate or a battery is carried on in a large backpack.

Interesting, that we are doing the same thing in light, camera & storage space. Same as you, I'm trying to buy fewer light's at the moment cuz as you mentioned, other people are bringing them in trucks. Also same as you, I started focusing in camera department more therefore, I decided not to go with the new aputure infinibar & go for P+S Technik skater Scope & atlas mercury lens kit. also I'm looking for a bigger storage to keep my car crane build......got the motocrane radical while ago & a new car to use it with. the build will be completed by end of May but can't find a cheap warehouse to store it. I blv we will be mounting & dismounting the crane whenever it's needed until I find one. no tips for me to add, just make sure you fully rig your new place with CCTV 👌🏻
