In this video I'm gonna show you how you can easily organize music files from Tidal, right inside of your Denon DJ all-in-one hardware. With these simple steps, you can arrange your songs in the way you wanted and you don't need to deal with messy playlist structure in Tidal after all. #denondj #denondjprime #djtutorial #tidal #denondjprime2 #denondjprime4 #denondjprimego #numarkmixstreampro

this is a lot of hard work. Denon should integrate this into engine dj but they are more interested in adding stuff most djs won't use, just to try and beat pioneer.

There are pros and cons. First of all, streaming solutions gives no free-hand to the DJing companies. There are restrictions. Always. Denon did not try to beat pioneer. They already proven much more versatility, performance and quality over pioneer. The question is only how many djs would gets off the hype-train... If you know what I mean. I started to hate pioneer first when their CDJs often skipped songs, made very bad quality of playbacks in different conditions and made me unpleasant moments in front of the crew. They started the hype and gave hw to many clubs for free. First I have moved to Numark, then Omnitronic, then Numark again and since years to Denon. And I have not regret it... I have compared XDJ and Prime units head to head and found that Denon made light-years better stand alone unit. Everything else is just a personal taste and what you believe in... I agree with you that this is a lot of work, but those DJs that invest nothing in making their precisely currated / assembled playlists are just fools. A big part of our DJing life is a maintenance of our music collection and playlists. You can do the playlist management right in Tidal if you wish. I have presented an alternative solution how to "nest" these songs into your local playlists...

Thank you for the video. Very informative. Question. How do I save my cue points in tidal on the Prime 4 so they’ll be there every time I load the song on Tidal.
@MrThomAce
@MrThomAce 2 ай бұрын
Thanks, glad that you like it. If you want to save your cue points, just simply use your USB stick or internal drive that you are normally use while you are streaming from Tidal. (or even beatport / beatsource) The cue points and related information always stores in your primary selected storage. Therefore, if you don't have an internal storage and you plug a usb stick, Engine OS will give you an offer to select it for storing information for streamed songs. Otherwise, you will get an "error" message that tells you about the saving issue. If you plug this usb drive (or internal drive) to your computer and opening the database from your drive, you will see a lots of songs with Tidal (for example) logo. Obviously, locally you couldn't play these songs, but you can organize them (even further...) in logical playlist structure.

There are some possibilities to organize Tidal songs in Engine DJ on our desktops, but first we have to - at least - analize these songs on our decks. I hope Denon will solve these. There are opened cases / requests for implement these features, but not yet accepted by Denon. I see improvements, but still, there is a lot of room for making it even better of course. However, I wouldn't replace my Prime unit for any costs for any competitors (except Prime 4+)

Is it possible to access Tidal through a family plan with 6 accounts? Or does it need to be individual plan?
@MrThomAce
@MrThomAce Жыл бұрын
If your plan is a Hifi+, then you can access. Standard plans has no rights to stream to these devices.

So let me see if i understand this correctly. While being on tidal on a specifications or any play list you can add to prepare list and it Will save that track in the internal drive. Example the fact i have a 2tbssd instaled inside my sc6000m that means it Will save the track inside that ssd?
@MrThomAce
@MrThomAce 9 ай бұрын
No, it is not saving the songs to your internal hard drive. In the video I'm just presenting how you can add songs to your local playlists. How to build up local playlists instead of building playlists in your Tidal account.

@MrThomAce

Hey. You must ensure that you have an up-to-date engine software and you choose the right device for storing such information. like: using your internal SSD. You can change this in Tidal settings if I'm not wrong.

I personally went and bought an sd card off Amazon and put it in the back of my controller. And now with this videos help I’ve learned how to get the bpm keys and duration as well as cue points to save onto that dd card so when o shut down all my work has saved. I wish there was a way to get my cue points and information off my serato and onto the sd card cuz I’m having to redo everything on the controller

Tidal track metadata (BPM, key, etc.) are stored to whichever mounted drive has your profile stored on it. It could be an SD card, a USB stick, or an SSD drive. I store my profile and Tidal metadata on an SD card that lives in my Prime GO. I also have USB sticks I prepare and use for particular purposes. I prepare the USB sticks on my computer using the Engine DJ desktop software. The USB sticks don't have my profile on them, nor do they have any Tidal metadata stored on them. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it you could store everything on one storage device if you wanted to: profile, music files, streaming service metadata. It's a bit confusing, but that's par for the course in the land of DJ software.

Im confused - if i play the streaming service tracks ie analyze n cue point em they will be saved into my hard drive which allows them streamed songs to be used in playlists along side the music on the drive? Or do i still have to rely on segregated playlists based on streaming service and local files.

I’ve had my Prime4+ for a week, and am learning it myself. I have an SSD card I pop in the slot, which contains my own mp3s and playlists. I also have a Tidal account. From what I’ve seen: I can combine Tidal tracks with my own mp3s in the same playlist on the SSD card. Any loops or hotcues I create are persisted after restarting the Prime4. However, the Tidal tracks themselves will always need to be re-downloaded each time you restart the Prime (but will pick up any loops you’d created previously).

Yes, streaming is working like temporarily downloading the songs to local internal memory and then analyzing the songs if the song not been played before. Otherwise, it will be ready to play with all the previously set information. The song info will goes to the primary storage what you have selected. You can choose either internal or external devices, such as SSD/HDD (internal), SD card, USB dongle, USB SSD. You can handle the playlists and streamed files together. The only drawback is that on your PC, you can not play streamed files from Engine DJ.
@soppliger
@soppliger 8 ай бұрын
@@peteinbirmingham This is correct. For streaming tracks, only the metadata is stored alongside the tracks you own. The metadata includes BPM, key, loops, cues, hot cues, etc. The only difference is that if the track source is a streaming service, the actual song file is never stored on any local storage media. As I understand it, even when it downloads and plays, the song itself is only stored in memory as it's being played. You can bet that there's at least a paragraph or two in Denon's contract with the RIAA, ASCAP, or whomever, that outlines in excruciating legal detail all the ways a streaming song *cannot* be handled or used. It wouldn't surprise me if there's contract language defining exactly how many seconds, or exactly what proportion of a song can be cached in memory. It's not 100%. This is all classic recording industry bullshit. They will only enter the future by force and they'll kick and scream all the way there.
