How to: Out of phase a 4 conductor humbucker pickup in a Les Paul

So it's just a simple swap? Hot becomes ground and ground becomes hot? No need for push pull pots?

If you look at the digram that starts at around :55 seconds, we’re actually swapping the north start and the south start of one pickup. Ghis puts this pickup electronically out of phase. You could also flip the magnet as you have to do if you only have 2 wire pickups. I have another video demonstrating that and to me, the effect is more pronounced when you do it magnetically.

thanks for the video.. it was tje case.. my seymour was out of phase wiht a t-top...no way i'm taking the t-top appart..

Does flipping the magnet work the same?

To my ears, flipping the magnet has a more pronounced effect

Hey! Can this make the guitar buzz? I've done this mod to a current hollow body build, and I keep getting a lot of buzz (in every position, though). I'm not sure if I have any issue with ground or if it might have to do with this... Do you have any hint?

It should not make it buzz. I would double check all your solder connections and ensure all your grounds are correct. A magnifying glass or some powerful glasses help.

@@PhoenixGuitars Thank you for the reply! I have double checked that every metal part is grounded (continuity in every component), and it all seems ok to me... I'm new to this, and I cannot understand how I could have made a HH guitar "hum"... I'm having trouble finding anyone online with the same issue... Has this ever happened to you? Thank you again

@@xaviersilva96 cable? Amp? The ground wires maybe touching something else? Everything is solveable. Lots of great info on guitar wiring out there. Seymour duncan has a great site with many diagrams.

One detail: It's a hollow body build - do you think I may be dealing with a short circuit or something, from laying the components inside the F-hole? Maybe a capacitor touching a ground wire from the pickup, or something...
