I have had 6 of these on boats and no issue, but this past week I accidentally hit the trolling motor head with my dock and the strap broke, but that was my fault.

Why doesnt Minn Kota provide these as part of the package?

You should also check out the Minn Kota MKR-26 plug. I had narrowed my choice down to this one and the Battery Tender. Although the MKR-26 was higher priced, I am really happy with the way the new plug. I think it is even more waterproof then the Battery Tender Plug. So much better than the old Marinco Twist Lock plugs!!!!
