About SOC voltage tinkering with Ryzen CPUs, increasing it will also increase the CPU's power consumption and given how the precision boost technology works it will mean that your CPU will boost lower because its maximum boost frequency is tied to consumption and temperature. So if you're increasing your infinity fabric's voltage in order to keep it stable at 1800 or 1900Mhz you should also change the Precision Boost Overdrive settings in order to increase the power limit otherwise you might lose performance despite running your memory controller at a higher frequency. RAM overclocking on Ryzen is a bit more complicated because you must also deal with the Infinity Fabric overclocking. Your Ram might be able to run at 3600Mhz or 3800Mhz but your Infinty Fabric might be unstable at 1800Mhz or 1900Mhz. You absolutely need your IF to match your RAM true frequency (so 1800Mhz for a 3600Mhz DDR4 Kit), if they aren't correctly synchronized you'll lose a lot of performance. There is a good chunk of R5 3600(x) and R7 3700x that won't be able to reach 1900Mhz on the IF and some will even struggle to remain stable at 1800Mhz. I've been quite unlucky with the silicon lottery on my 3700x for instance, getting 1800Mhz stable has been a bitch to tinker. All the memory stress tests seemed to be OK without any errors and yet I was still getting blue screens of death once or twice a day. Turns out it wasn't really the memory but the IF that was unstable. That also means that the super expensive 4000+ Mhz kits aren't meant to run at 4000Mhz on a Ryzen CPU because there's no way your IF will be stable at 2000Mhz, try 3800/1900 (memory/IF) and work on the timings. If even with loose timings it's not stable then the issue is most likely with the IF. In that case lower the Ram and IF frequency again and then tighten the timings in order to compensate the frequency decrease.
@AncientGameplays5 жыл бұрын
True, that is why i tell people to watch that video in the description. As for IF it doesn't need to be matched. It is better to, but not a need. 2666mhz with if at 1900MHz will be better than with stock one. Also, if oc is only for 3rg gen. Thanks for the comment
@kathleendelcourt81365 жыл бұрын
@@AncientGameplays You can indeed get a tiny performance increase with a high IF frequency but it only works with slow memory (like 2133 or 2666Mhz). With 3000Mhz memory and above synchronizing the RAM and IF gives much better results. In fact even with slow memory I'd recommend to try to overclock it to 3000Mhz (or better if possible) and synchronize the IF instead of leaving the ram at its stock frequency and crank up the IF. 3000Mhz Ram/1500Mhz IF will most likely mop the floor with a 2133Mhz or 2666 Mhz Ram/1900Mhz IF configuration.

Pc newbie here. Ive been getting unstable memory (black screen upon boot up or random restarts when i get into OS) when I set the XMP to get my 3600mhz speed i bought (Corsair Vengeance PRO 16gb 3600c18) I set it back to the default 2133mhz for my fear of breaking something. Any advice? I have a Ryzen 7 3700x with stock cooler.

wel, the video actually tells you what do mate...But voltage to 1.4v should be enough

Ancient Gameplays I know I’m sorry I just wanted to be sure, do I have to move the voltage on the cpu as well like the video says or is that just for manual oc? Like I said I am very paranoid of destroying my parts this is my first pc.

Ancient Gameplays I am referring to the soc voltage you mentioned, or is that on the ram too? Sorry I am a noob

Rip I oced and set my dram voltage at 1.45v and set the frequency up only 200 from 3000 to 3200mhz and still not stable... Would lowering the voltage help or do I need to change the SOC voltage?
@AncientGameplays4 жыл бұрын
You need to change timings also
