I think younger people are more affected by internet and social media addiction. People who start bad habits early in life can never break those bad habits. Just like people that start drinking early in life become addicted to alcohol. I am a Generation Xer, so my smartphone is mostly used to make calls, texting, and checking voice mails. I spend very little time on my smartphone. When I have to use a computer, I just use my desktop computer to do work, shopping online, search stuff on the internet, read articles, email, etc. I still have analog phone at my home, most people don't have this, and when I am home I answer my landline. I walk about 6.5 miles to 8 miles/ 10.46 km to 12.88 km every day. That is the only way I can manage my weight. A lot of people today are so sedentary, so we have people who are morbidly obese.

Your approach makes a lot of sense. It is better to detach from this addiction by using analog phones and desktop computers. However, as you said, for younger generations, smartphones are an integral tool in their lives. The Internet itself is a great tool; however, our brain can follow after the speed online. So, teaching how to use the internet at school is important. Your physical exercise is so great. It is wonderful. Thank you for watching!

Like any other addiction there is no other help before there is ones own will to want to reduce number of hours we spend on internet. One should remember that there were times before when people did not have smart phones and internet. It was much more relaxed...So anyone that wants .I actualy wanted to mention the Swedish writer. Its worthwile reading it. Good topic. Thank you for sharing. Cheers

As an adolescent, I had a mobile phone that was less connected to the internet. At that time, I had enough time to read books. But nowadays, I always read books while checking the internet. I love checking my social media accounts, but it probably affects my brain functions.

My dad completed his doctoral degree on computer-aided systems. When I reconnected with him, he preferred not to use computers. He brought books for me and we went to the library often. Maybe the books were less stimulating than a screen.

Your father was an intellectual. It was great! The internet is a great tool for making our lives creative and convenient. I love it. However, smartphones stimulate our brain functions. Reading books can help ease our tension. Thank you for watching!

I don't have instagram, I'm not on Twitter (X). Facebook is boring but I love KZbin. I spend my long evenings watching youtube videos. I used to love reading and took a book with me everywhere I went but now when I read it sends me to sleep so really, I should be reading before bed and not watching KZbin videos - it's definitely an addiction for me and I will try and reduce the hours spent on it. I feel embarrassed about it too. Very good video - everything you said made complete sense and the advice you gave was doable.

If you're falling asleep when reading you might need new prescription reading-glasses. The brain's visual processing centers are closely linked to the sleep-wake cycle. Prolonged visual focus can stimulate the sleep-promoting areas of the brain, making you feel drowsy.

Also, as you guys are really smart, you will probably know that sitting for long periods of time can give you a blood clot. I get up every half an hour and walk about a bit or do some tidying up. I think gamers are the worst - I've watched some upsetting videos about gamers who would not have a break from their gaming addiction to even go to the toilet, eat or drink for hours or days at a time. Truly worrying.

Watching KZbin videos itself is not negative. I am also a heavy KZbin user. The challenge is, as you said, online addiction. Reading books makes you sleepy, which helps improve your sleep quality. You do not need to read a book, but watching a book is also reading. Thank you for watching!

Yutaka-san, I know I'm 100% addicted to KZbin. I need to get away from this. Thank you for bringing up this topic. I've enjoyed your videos, if I'm ever in Japan I'll stop by the library and maybe we'll run into each other. またね

All we have is internet addiction. There are many problems that are hard to change. The Internet is a necessity to make our lives creative. The key point is to use the Internet properly, not deny it. This is what I want to say in this video. Today, I will get to the library. There are various types of libraries in Jpana. I hope oneday you will come back here. Thank you for watching!

With total honesty I don't see what's the negative of spend hours among screens (or "Internet abuse/addiction" like many people calls) but instead I think of Internet as a double faced sword, being just bad if you use it as a time-consuming tool instead of what it can be: a huge and almost limitless source of knowledge and practical learning. Obviously social media by the norm are generally the pointless and counterproductive part of the entire web.

what he says is true cus youre living through a screen most of your existence. We're not talking about studying something 12 hours this month. WE're talking about EVERY single day wasting 25-50% of it on a screen is unhealthy. Unfortunately thisis the reality in 2024.
