Man I wish I had known this before I dug up and threw out my paper plans. Oh well, I still have more seeds.

Just dug up my poblano again which I overwintered last year. It started slow, but when it took off, it did great. Harvested a pepper here and there during the season, but pulled off 3 red and 17 green full size poblanos when pruning for winter, along with 8 undersized peppers. Lookinng forward to how it does next year.

Do they need a grow light in the winter? My basement is really dark.
@Unsensitive3 ай бұрын
@@ACommunistLoveStory they will need some light and water, yes. I over winter in my garage, which has windows and temp stays low, but above freezing. Inside you'd want a grow light as it'd be warmer.

Any recommendations for wintering plants in pots that your unable to bring inside?
@fromdreamtoseed3 күн бұрын
Yep! I’m doing a video soon, but pull them up close to your home. Mulch them with leaves. There are also covers you can buy to go over them.

If my plant still have baby peppers on them and I bring them inside will they continue to grow? I'm in Michigan so the weather is starting to get cold at night but I don't want to lose the peppers that are forming.
@fromdreamtoseed15 күн бұрын
You would need to put a grow light on them. Even then they make stop growing if you re-pot them
@phillipsolorio7379 Жыл бұрын
Do they need any sort of grow lighting?
@fromdreamtoseed Жыл бұрын
You can if you want them to actively grow. I just put mine in indirect light from a window
@mikewelling36187 күн бұрын
Also use indoor potting mix for the soil because you'll have less chance for nats and add bone meal mix with soil to promote root health and growth

@@fromdreamtoseed I bought a grow light and I have it on low for eight hours. Is that good. Also, I kept some of them in my car when it was cold outside because I wanted to protect them from the cold morning. It’s about 30 in Illinois now is that OK?

I overwintered two banana pepper plants. They both started growing but are putting out fruit before even going back outside. Should i prune the little peppers and get the plants under a light for more daily hours of light?
@fromdreamtoseed7 ай бұрын
I would def get them under lights. Pruning would probably be a good idea until they are outside

I keep them in the ground and just mulch the dirt. Seems to work for me. But then I live in a warm area

Hi! I’ve got a KZbin video coming out soon where I show more detail, but yes. All leaves and fruit should come off
@mateopucu3 күн бұрын
Same for eggplants? Maters?
@fromdreamtoseed3 күн бұрын
Tomatoes are technically perennial yes, but more difficult because they are a vining plant. They grow so fast and usually end up with blight so I just start fresh each year. Peppers take FOREVER to ripen for me so this shaves off some time.

Happens to me too quite often. I usually put it next to a sunny window or I have inexpensive grow lights I put on them. The kind you can clip on the pot. Keeps them from getting leggy

Will a cheap greenhouse keep the temp around 50 even if the outside temps drop below freezing for a few days or even a week? Also do the still require regular watering?
@fromdreamtoseed3 ай бұрын
Just depends on your winters. For me in zone 7, it wouldn’t be enough. I’d have to heat it. I do water occasionally. More once they start to leaf out.

if they're dormant does that mean they could survive total darkness like in basement for say 2 months?
@fromdreamtoseed10 ай бұрын
I’ve heard of some people doing that, but I try to mimic natural conditions for perennials. If they stayed outside they would still get water and sunlight. Just less

Make sure you dip the roots and a neem oil and water mixture, you don’t wanna bring in any diseases or mites that’ll kill your plants inside, also don’t let the roots dry out or the plant dies.

Have never done this. Where do you find neem oil and what is the ratio of oil and water?
@davidisaacson93283 ай бұрын
@@terrycarter6485Look for "cold/expeller pressed Neem Oil. You can find it online for sure. The instructions will tell you the ratio water to neem. Remove as much of the old soil as possible. Using a 5 gallon bucket with this solution...dunk the plant(fully submerged, roots, branches and all) for 5-10 minutes. Replant in container with new soil("sterile" soil if bringing inside the home) and give it 1 deep watering. Bye-bye bugs!
