I get the bonus pack of 10 shower caps from the dollar store & put my shoes in them, I can fit flats/sandals into one cap, but sneakers & heels may need one each. I always take a bathing suit, an extra change of clothes, my makeup & essential toiletries in my carry on, in case my bag does not arrive on the same flight as me.

After several trips abroad I'm down to one medium size suitcase especially if I'm riding the trains. I'm going to try the cubes looks like they help with organization. Shoe wise I stick to two pairs of shoes, a good tennis shoes and a sandal. I pair down all my accessories to a wedding band, watch, earrings and a necklace. My make up also down to travel sizes. Also I try not to pack things I can do without because if I have to make room for things I'm buying something will be left behind. Thanks for all the great tips. Always learning something new. My husband and I are going to Santorini Island in Sept for 12 days. I went to Italy for three weeks with a carry-on (9x14x21 and total weight 22 pounds when packed) and a hand bag not nearly as big as yours and I still feel as though I overpacked. I don't know where you were going but that seems like a LOT of stuff! Nevertheless, I enjoyed this video as I enjoy all of your videos. Happy travels!

Ronee Underwood we went to Europe for three weeks and I only used a small backpack carry on and found I could have packed less..pack less travel more I say ..when travelling in Europe so much easier when you don't have a ton of stuff to cart around but I bet she always looked great while she was on her trip!

You can carry your big purse and a carry-on luggage. I do the opposite, rolling most of my clothing and putting my shoes and toiletries bags. I pack my jewelry, electronics, and straightening iron in my carry on, a days worth of clothing and my makeup in a clear zip bag. This helps eliminate weight from my luggage and it has always passed through security. I even have a battery operated magnifying mirror, (I'm blind) which has confused some folks but it gets through. I only travel with my hair leave-ins and conditioner mask I leave in my check luggage. I can buy a bottle of shampoo and conditioner once we arrive and most hotels have minis for an emergency. We travel for a living and are currently stationed in Greece.

P.s. I use grocery store bags to store my shoes...so classy! But hey, I can ditch them and they never need washed.

I have been using those packing cubes since I found them from Avon a thousand years ago!. Yours make me think I deserve some new ones! I use them on luggage I check. If they actually open my bag and go through it, all things are organized and protected. They're not actually touching my clothes. I love your videos! I'm learning a lot and having fun playing!

Agree about packing cubes and "envelope". Love, love, love mine and really helps condense clothing without wrinkles! I pack my shoes at bottom of bag and on sides, then add the cubes. Great tips! Love your videos!

Great video! I put my shoes in packing cubes also to keep things from getting dirty. For skin care to save room, I pack all my Sephora samples. And I always make sure I have room in my suitcase to bring home purchases from my trip. In my tote/carry-on I also have a small toiletries kit, Pacifica body wipes, book, socks to put on when going through security, and extra pair of underwear in case my luggage gets lost.

I've enjoyed this series! I learned the hard way to always pack one extra outfit (super lightweight knits are best), undies, some makeup and mini moisturizers, toothbrush and paste in my carry-on. Nothing like landing late and having to wear clothes you've had on for 18 hours the next day while trying to scramble around for clothes to buy until your luggage hopefully shows up...

I love those packit pieces. I've used them for years and have such a system that I could find things in my suitcase in the dark. I would be lost without the app Pack-it. I can make my list...and reuse them. So I have what I need for business trips, tropical vacations, winter weekends. I love the additional steps you take. I love those cubes. Great tips and thanks for sharing! PS: when I travel I have individual bags (plain cotton bags with a drawstring that I found at TJ Max) for my shoes. I don't like for the bottoms of my shoes to be against my clean clothes and I take a large bag (simple one with a drawstring for dirty clothes).

Having had a suitcase go missing on a flight, we always split out clothes etc between our bags. so at least if one bag goes missing each person has some clothes at least. I also stuff socks and small items in shoes around the edge of the suitcase first. But, I do love the packing set you have here. They would make such a difference. I don't like rolling t-shirts and better items as some suggest. Thank you Dominique and enjoy your trip.

Your packing technique is almost identical to mine! I travel a lot for work and pleasure so this is key to minimizing the stress of travel. I do use shoe bags, have a list in my phone like you do, roll all my clothes, power cords in carry on. I do carry on makeup because I'm afraid will get destroyed, however rethinking based on your recommendation to pack in suitcase. So excited with your fresh ideas! Thank you.

I LOVE my packing cubes and envelopes. When I fold things with the grey thing I don't bother to slip it inside. I just set it in top of a piece of clothing, making sure the top edges of the garment and the grey thing align. Just a little detail but it will make things easier for some items -- especially t shirts.

Hi Dominique! I noticed that you didn't use shoe bags. You can put shoes in shower caps that you get in the hotels. I always pack my shoes in bags. Our trips are at least 6 weeks so I have a huge challenge. Enjoy your trip! Great video!

Great tips, thank you! Having checked in at the airport and then being told there was a 24 hour delay in our flight we were messed around by the airline until it was too late to go shopping. I ended up washing through our underwear in the hotel bathroom and drying with a hairdryer. Since then I always pack fresh underwear in my carry on!

Yes! I always carry one change of clothes, something small and soft like yoga pants, a tank, and a long, loose knit cardigan - which also work for 'public' sleep if I have a long layover or delay and am stuck in an airport chair.

Recently discovered you and find all your how tos very well done. I also discovered packing bags a few years ago. Besides making it possible to pack much more in the same space, I find it makes it very easy when I arrrive at my destination. I know where everything is. No digging through the suitcase trying to find the swimsuit or camis. I usually put the bags right into the hotel room dresser. BTW, how did nine people find something to dislike??? 🙄

I use washable shoe bags, would not put them next to clothes. Just imagine what your shoe soles pick up in a bathroom, or just walking in the streets. Yuck!😖

I've seen a youtube video showing shoes being put into dollar store shower caps! The elastic fits perfectly, protecting belongings from the dirty bottoms, and you can put one over the top of the shoe too (optional). I'm going to try it on my next trip! I wish I could remember who it was to give them credit!

If you are staying in a hotel, most hav3 hair dryers in the bathrooms, in the USA at least. Don’t forget plug adapters if you are traveling international.

Jean Taylor and make sure you get seperate ones for hairdryers, I almost blew up London last year. They have them on Amazon. A regular adapter isn’t strong enough. Then I was stuck looking crazy

It is so simple but those packing bags are a brilliant idea. Last time I traveled, I wanted to travel light so my suitcase would not be too heavy and I ended up with only half of the thing I needed. So I really am going to look for bags like that. Never too old to learn :)

We have used the packing cubes from ebags for years. I was surprised that you chose the suitcase though. I bought a rolling duffle, sized as carry-on for international travel. I used it first on a 10 day, late winter trip to Shanghai, China. My husband uses a Tumi bag for travel, but I went with a different type of bag and was able to pack everything easily. There are better cases for packing jewelry that roll up and keep your items from tangling, scratching, etc. The only other thing that surprised me was your flying shoes! Those would take too long to put back on! I wear flats, slip on, or off fast. For that trip, I bought a Patagonia down sweater. It's a coat and very warm, but when you don't need it, it goes into it's own pocket, is almost weightless, and clips to your purse or backpack easily. (It was 80 here in Houston when we left.) Our profile pic was taken on the Bund on that recent trip to China. Good job on packing! I am sure you will look posh no matter what!

Thank you for this video! I just had a meltdown during my last packing session at my husbands dismay and couldn't figure out what was going on. Then I realized, I dropped the ball on the planning part of it. No list and no outfit coordination left me frustrated while packing. Amazing how a little prior planning takes the process from a frustrating experience to a pleasurable one. Dominique! You are so inspiring and I always save your videos and binge watch them as soon as I can. I love your style and have a similar olive complexion and eye color as you. I have long dark hair that seems lack luster and does nothing for my complexion so I am taking a plunge and cutting a few inches off and getting a similar chestnut brown with high and low lights like yours, perfect for Autumn weather soon approaching. You and I pack in a very similar way...I LOVE your suitcase! As for the pieces for the makeup/hair products that hang: if you want to make sure there is an "at your fingertips" hanging accessibility, pack a Command hook and a couple of adhesive strips and you can hang your pieces on doors or walls whether or not your hotel has hooks or apparent space. Simply remove hook when done and toss it in your suitcase for the next travel adventure :-)

a recent good tip i found was to take pictures on my phone of all the combo outfit i create when i pack, it's a no brainer on the trip to know what to wear because I have already did match the outfits and have a record of it :)

Thank you for some great tips! I wondered how many days this packing was for? Just a tip I thought I would share.....Twice my suitcace has gone missing after the first time I made sure to crosspack items with my husband so we have our clothes, toiletries etc in both cases if you are travelling as a couple I would highly recommend this as this year when it happened to us again at least we were covered it was awful seeing some passengers whose cases were also lost only having the clothes they stood up in.

Hello, Beautiful! This is one of my fave videos so far! Thank you! I need this! Seeing how much time, effort, and energy you put into prepping your packing is really eye opening. I usually pack on the fly and always wind up overpacking in just a few hours. Also interesting about this video is - My Gawd - How much energy you have! Aren't you a Mom, too? How do you do it? Something else educational for me is your fashion choices. You always seem to wear age-appropriate, sophisticated, yet casual clothes that make you look effortlessly youthful and hip. How do I learn this skill? I never thought women over 30 could wear any jeans besides dark, straight leg, slacks - style, but you totally rock whiskered knee holes - is the key the right shoes / sandals / accessories to pair with it to make it look more grown up? Whenever I wear jeans and a T, I just look frumpy. This video makes me realize how badly I'd like to revamp my look. Lol. PS - Victorinox - isn't that aka Swiss Army? I have gotten the best suitcases from them - the most durable! Anyway, I travel a lot and this video will help me plan better b/c right now I spend 2 days packing the kids and like a 1/2 hour getting my own stuff in gear. Ha ha right. My bad.
