Last winter I was playing (keeper). It was 38 F. I had on all the clothes I could and still move. I'm 51. There was a 17 year old linesman in short sleeves and shorts. I was impressed and told him so. He was also a very good linesman!

I live in the USA upper midwest. Winter for you is more like autumn for me :D Our winter conditions are basically playing indoor due to cold but also snow cover. I do appreciate the gear reviews for those rare occasions where we can steal a day outside

Regarding the socks though, my poor toes are the one area that I get most concerned about when playing in the cold! It can be hard to find good options that aren't also so thick that you can't hardly get your boots on. Overall when I play in cold (say 0-7C) I have a base layer, long adidas tiro pants, warm socks hopefully. Hat and gloves to start but those usually come off once I warm up.
