Friggin great video!! As an amateur art graduate, the info on packing large paintings is so helpful. I wouldn't have known what to do and you've saved me probably years and hours of pulling my hair out and of ruined works. It's amazing we don't get taught this in university. I don't know or when pro artists learn this.

Can I ask what wood he uses when he builds his actual canvases? Such a helpful video! Thank you!
@Artresin3 жыл бұрын
Most likely they are cradled wood panels made from birch

Excellent video, only question I have is about packing say furniture like a Resin End Table that is 36" diameter and 26" high but legs can be removed making table I'd say between 5-10". and how do you ship, I have been told DHL ships furniture but How do you figure out shipping cost, any other info about DHL would be cool.

This video will give you some pointers on how to protect your resin artwork, for specifics on how to ship with a specific carrier once your piece has been packaged, you would be best to reach out to the carrier itself.

I placed a painting that was not resinned yet face down on glassine to resin the back of canvas for stability and the glassine stuck to the front of painting. I have a special painting for my son’s new home as a Christmas present. What caused the sticking? Is it safe to ship the painting with glassine?
@Artresin Жыл бұрын
Hi Judy, perhaps the paint was not fully cured and stuck to the paper? We recommend a layer of glassine or acid free butcher paper as the first layer over your cured resin when packing just to prevent any plastic contact or imprinting from other materials.

I make resin. Ashtrays, home decor pieces and trays.....would you say the parchment paper will be fine for these smaller pieces?? Or?? I'm only shipping within the states.
@Artresin4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lara! Yes you can use parchment paper as well :)

Great video. What thickness OSB does he use?
@Artresin5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! We asked Mike and he said that the OSB was 7/16th of an inch :)

Can you use freezer paper instead of the glassine?
@Artresin5 жыл бұрын
We haven't used it ourselves but my initial thought would be that they are pretty similar. I think I would be cautious and be sure the side with the wax is not touching your piece so it does not leave any marks on your beautiful finish.

What about large sheets of tracing paper
@Artresin3 жыл бұрын
Hi Janine, I'm not sure about tracing paper specifically. Its important to look for something smooth and low acid that wont transfer onto your surface. Parchment, butcher paper, glassine all work well.

What would u suggest to pack with for bowls, trays, coasters, etc.??? Thx
@Artresin4 жыл бұрын
Hi Y Mashburn, the same packing tips apply for bowls, trays and coasters. Glassine is your best choice, but you can also choose craft wrapping paper or parchment paper. Then remember to add some padding :)

Can those crates be bought ?
@Artresin Жыл бұрын
These crates were custom made to fit each piece of artwork :) They are unfortunately not for sale.

butter paper or plastic which used in kitchen food can be used? fpr resin md painting?
@Artresin4 жыл бұрын
Butter paper would work but I would not use plastic, it could do the same thing as the bubble wrap and leave marks on the resin.

Wouldn’t using wood make for hugely expensive shipping costs ?
@Artresin5 жыл бұрын
Mike was saying in his segment that his objective is all about protecting his artwork from damage. In the end, experience has taught him that damaged art from inadequate packaging is far more costly than the effort and expense of properly packing/shipping his artwork :) For the majority of people whose art isn't as huge and heavy, wrapping art per Rebecca's instructions and packing in a cardboard box will suffice :)
