How To Package and Ship Magazines You Sold On Ebay

Hey guys!! Whether you are planning to sell magazines on Ebay, you're currently selling magazines on Ebay, or you've already sold a magazine on Ebay, this video will show you how to package and ship that magazine!! Just a small tip, if you really want to go that extra mile, you can tape the cardboard you sandwich the magazine inside with painters tape rather than packing tape. Painters tape is easily peeled off. This way they don't need to cut the tape, or at the very least struggle to peel packing tape, which could potentially lead to them cutting or bending whatever is inside the cardboard like the magazine in this case. Just thought I would throw that out there for anyone reading comments. Thanks for the video!

Do you ship first class, priority, or media mail. How much, on average do your magazines weigh. And about how much do you charge the customer, if you can break it down please. Thanks again. I love your channel.

Just first class. I play it safe and put in half a pound. The last magazine I sold, I charged $6.15 for shipping. I made ebay determine the shipping by location.

When I went to drop off one in a padded envelope like that, they told me I could not ship it with stamps because it was considered a package. Even though it only weighed 5-6 oz. I think the main issue I always have with eBay is lower priced items shipping ends up costing more than it I made off selling it.

What if you wanted to ship a sporting news magazine, is there an envelope big enough to ship the elongated way they came with brown wrapper back in the early 70’s to ship them in?

Check the description for the bubble envelopes in the description. I'd get the 12 X 16 ones because the 10 X 13 are a tight squeeze. All my customers were very happy!! I have a 100% rating on Ebay.

Good tips. Ill do better packaging nest time. NOTE ON SHIPPING MAGAZINES! I learned today that 1st Class does not include a tracking number. My magazine qualified for 1st Class because pkg was only 10 ounces. But FLAT PACKAGES don't qualify for USPS-generated labels with tracking. Only PACKAGES qualify. That would have cost over $12 dollars for this shipment rather than $5.40. I seem to learn new rules with every other shipment.

It's not just you, but the USPS has long since STOPPED being a service for the people, as it was originally set up. (as a "non-profit" too as I recall), but now looked at as a cash COW ballooning UP most everything in shipping costs. Just 7 years ago shipping a USPS small flat rate box was around $3.85 as I recall, and over just the last 3 or so years has had multiple increases to it's now $10.20. BUT the one that really eats at me everytime I ship one of my handmade Ti Rod Tactical Titanium Walking sticks, besides the usual postage, they've had the gall to add on a "Non Standard Length" additional shipping fee which in most cases about doubles the cost to between $32 to $40! As they MAKE a 39 inch "Medium" size 3 sided box, and have for many years, HOW can they now consider THAT a "Non Standard Length??? It's simply robbery at the Post Office, and puts them equal and sometimes over what UPS and probably Fedex would charge. And the ultimate kicker is the USPS could be doing fine economically at the less costly rates, IF they would leave ALL the income within the Postal System. Instead the powers that be dip into Postal Income for other things, and as I recall force prefunding of pensions beyoud what other companies have to. OH, as far as that envelope containg the magazine goes, I wouldn't consider that packing job to be finished and ready to go. At the minimum use some packing tape over the original sealing tape area, and that one was raised a bit anyway and could catch in the machinery. But personally, I usually completely tape over the entire bubble envelopes, to seal in the address and prevent water spray possibly making the address unreadable. It also strengthens the bubble envelope overall.

No because it doesn't meet the criteria for media mial. Media mail must be books (less than 8 pages) or CD's or DVD's.
