Painting had the opposite affect with me. My GF died in 2011 and for some weird reason I associated painting with her and it took me yrs of PTSD, and therapy to finally be able to pick up a brush. So glad art helps you deal with your grief

Looks like it took weeks (not an hour). I chose this for your clouds and sky technique (for a backgammon board I’m painting) and ended up learning so much more, wow! Your palette knife job on the mountain was phenomenal - - even my partner stopped what he was doing, to watch in awe! Thanks, too, for your constant talking on what your doing throughout your painting. You’re a natural artist! You showed me that I can use oils now (and stop using acrylics, which dry too quickly for me, even with extenders). you’ve proven that you can paint layers upon layers without having to wait hours for oils to dry; a game-changer for me. Thank you for showing that mountains dont have to be flat and just snow covered. You are right! Too much white takes away from the other effects. Thank you for explaining the angles of the light, and how to accent that light while keeping the shaded areas in balance. It is absolutely spelling-binding to watch you bring the mountain scenery to life. I live in the mountains and this painting makes me feel like I have just rounded the path and came upon the river. I especially liked the dead tree, as they are certainly part of mountain living, and this has continued to encourage me to take up painting in the near future.
