It's not impossible to go back to brick after painting, but it is incredibly labor intensive and messy. You strip the paint off the brick faces with a paint stripper (this takes many many coats), and then you may be left with paint stuck in the grout. At that point, you may need to repoint the bricks to get the grout looking original again. I did this project years ago, stripping off about 4 layers of paint, so I know it can be done.

After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans kzbin.infoUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!

Someone already killed all the personality by painting the wood, then they finish the job by painting the brick. Just live in new construction, it has no wood or brick inside.

Rust-oleum and Krylon make High Heat paints. However, if you read the description, he uses a POR-15 (Paint over Rust) paint. I've used POR-15 on metal and its amazing. However, best to read instructions thoroughly and wear gloves/disposable brushes.

did anyone else notice the very last picture of the fireplace? Isn't the firebox now painted black inside?

What if the bricks are really ugly, like dirt/paint/lime everywhere that can't be removed?
@howtodoitdude1662 Жыл бұрын
@@rutgerhoutdijk3547 If it’s already painted, you don’t have much of a choice. Bricks are porous and allows moisture to escape if it gets between the house frame and the bricks. Once it’s painted, the moisture can get trapped behind the brick wall and cause damage. A way to get around this, is to drill out weep holes at the bottom of the wall, so moisture and water can escape.
