you add a lot to me, when you teach us that portrait is not a photograph, do not care for details, when you use bristol brushes and big patches of color, when you mix skin tones, wow thank you a lot

I love this and you've explained this really well. It's basically exactly what I'd love to achieve with oils. I haven't done much yet but coming from an acrylic persons perspective and a person who usually starts with lines for graphite. I needed to see this. I have to just brave it and let the brush strokes bring the picture to life

You made the man rugged & full of experience only time can bring. If you painted more realistic, the experience- journey - would be lost ! The essence is conveyed in this painting! I’m impressed. Maria

I find it super difficult to paint like this because I feel that I have to follow the details to the letter. I'll be coming back to this video often to remind me how to be looser and more relaxed. This is really valuable, thank you.

I use soft pastels to paint using the dry brush techinc and pastel pencils and I see some artist use your style with their pastels but this style is not for me. We need different artist and it's good that we all don't paint the same way. it's very fascinating to watch. Thank you for your time.

Great how you are mixing the paint on the Canvas. Do you sometimes also leave parts in transparent or thin paint. This is often nice in shadows. Or is this then more difficult to do with mixing on the canvas technique you have?

Very good sketch in 2 hours! But the nose is way off. Your sketch is great for tonal values and colour mixing, but the structure of the nose in the sketch shows a much more bulbous nose tip at the same time that it is slightly hooked over the top lip. I would feel a need to revisit the architecture of the nose. Great work BTW!!
