Excellent training videos for someone like me who just started painting last September. So easy to pick up on your technique with the way you explain in easy to understand terms. I get lost when it get too technical. Thanks!

What a magical painting process - Thank you for sharing your wonderfull colorblending process while telling us about the decisions you make both with your choice of materials and how you really can use your limited palet in a totally nuanced and atmospheric way

Great video! It finally clicked for me watching and listening to you. Direct, shadow and indirect...that’s good teaching. You simplified it...

I don't know why we deserve someone as willing to teach their techniques as you, but I am very very grateful. I wish I had more money to donate to your site. You should be teaching at a university.

Thank you for showing the mixing of your paint right on the canvas! That is SUCH a help. Going to your video for the oak tree trunk.

This 2-parter was great! I'm doing my first tree in a nursery, and was frustrated about the bark. (Happy news for me: I was mixing the colors correctly and my lighting ideas were right, so that was encouraging!) I'm self-taught--only ever had 1 HS art class, so I never got into painting--and the tip to add water (DUH!) will help me finish my project tomorrow a lt faster than I was thinking. Thanks again--I'll watch for you on fb!

I've been struggling with landscapes and how to make things look more realistic while still keeping a painterly style. I'm going to try this out on the trees I'm working on. I think it will help me a lot.

youre a star, joe!... however i was a bit bothered with a part of the back light shadow. the texture seemed to go horizontal across the grain, whilest the sunlight shadow was verticle. (it didnt look right to me)....but then you painted it out at about 06.12 and now i think it looks awesome! thanks for sharing your talent and video tips. cheers!

The trunk looks so real your camera is having trouble focusing.. "Is that a real tree in front of the painting or is it part of it?"
@morera74711 жыл бұрын

looking for an other word than back light? How about atmosphere. light that reflects the atmosphere on your tree.
