I love the use of Ushabti bone for the highlights, especially on the leather. I’m definitely going to be trying that .

Great work! That tip about loading the brush up with Contrast is spot on, I've used them loads since they came out and I still have issues with painting with them at times when I don't get enough on my brush.

Thank you so much. Glad you liked it. And yes a heavily loaded brush is key.

This might be the best tutorial on youtube I've seen that reached a perfect balance between speed & quality. Btw, do you have any suggestion on how to do the white belly for the squig? I just think having that white belly adds extra flavor for that cool model.
@MediocreHobbies
@MediocreHobbies 2 жыл бұрын
I would personally just switch to a small drybrush and drybrush the bone layer around the belly a little heavier. Your comment made my day thank you so much.

It seems such a daunting task to paint 8 squighog boyz, until I saw your slapchop job. Such great quality in little time. Definitely gonna try that out

Hi, really enjoying your tutorials: I've now watched all of them and they've all had a like (and you got my sub!). I think it's great that you're showing ways of painting that are achievable for someone like me who doesn't have exactly the best artistic genes. Also really liking the technical tips (more of these please!). I have a couple of questions if you have the time: - I see you're priming with the GW spray cans. Does it make a big difference for contrast paints in you experience vs priming with normal primers (white or off-white)? - when drybrushing I find it hard to find the right balance between too much on the brush vs. not enough to do anything. Are there simple tips that you can think of to help with that?
@MediocreHobbies
@MediocreHobbies 2 жыл бұрын
So first I only use gw Sprays. I’ve tried a few others and they just come out a little thicker then I’d like. Because I’m double spraying the model o want the sprays as thin as possible. Does the make sence? And as for dry brushing the trick I use for that is to always remove more paint from the brush then I think I have to. It’s a lot easier to put more paint on the model by doing a second drybrush then it is to try and remove paint. Hope these answered your questions. Thank you so much for the kind words and support. I hope to make many many more videos.

Hey thanks for the great video. It's certainly the best one I've seen for squigs i cant wait to do it myself. My only question is why do you spray it with black and then grey? On the video it looks like its fully coated with grey. But are there black contrast areas i couldn't see? Would it also work if i spray chaos black and then dry brush with a grey all over? Thanks again for a superb video
@MediocreHobbies
@MediocreHobbies 7 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! We definitely need more squigs out in the world! The black is a full coat. The grey is a lighter coat which helps the contrast cling better to it as well as creating some lighter and darker areas. Anywhere that I can’t reach with a paintbrush will be black from the primer so your eyes won’t see it. The lighter coat helps details stand out more when I start painting as well! I have a zenithal priming video that might show it better, some lighting makes it seem like it’s fully grey

I have one question do you do your bases before the model then glue the model if so what is your trick to make sure they stick well I have an issue doing it that way so was curious ?
@MediocreHobbies
@MediocreHobbies 2 жыл бұрын
The model is glued to the base and the base is down around him.
@jakoblawrence4184
@jakoblawrence4184 8 ай бұрын
Sorry this may be a silly question but what did you do with the grey seer? When base coating ?
@MediocreHobbies
@MediocreHobbies 8 ай бұрын
Not silly at all! I do a full coat with chaos black rattle can and then a light coat of grey seer rattle can from above to add some lighter areas. It also makes it easier for the contrast paint to cling to! Hope that makes sense!
