I was sitting here enjoying this great video. That got me to thinking about how this effect is on real metal. If you look at an exhaust on say a motorcycle, the blueing usually starts at the cylinder head which is the hottest area. When a gun is fired, the hottest area is going to be near the base and not at the tip of the barrel. But in the 40k universe, these barrels might be all blue due to the millions of rounds fired thru them. Still I very much enjoyed your video and technique. You do excellent work.
@ThePrettytube11 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial, I've used a similar technique with yellow and purple inks and finished with a metallic blue from the VMA range, it's a lovely effect :) However being a super geek I have to comment on the title as this effect actually usually occurs on superheated titanium, not iron :P Other than that I am sure a lot of painters will enjoy your awesome video :D

Vallego is a good paint. sells for a bit steeper at amazon than locally(for me anyway). they do not sell a burnt Iron so I will do a mix but with less violet as exhaust manifolds don't get that hot on Radials. cannons are constantly stressed and get hotter than piston engine manifolds.

I am trying to find a way to paint the exhaust manifold(part #26 of kit 5264 Revell) in a Radial piston engine of a Stearman PT-17(kit is a Christmas Present from my parents) calls for "Burnt Iron" Model Master's sells the actual paint but it looks like a metallic grey, not really burnt iron. I also need a color for frame and motor mounts which, for some strange reason calls for "Interior Green". I use gun painting tutorials for both weapons and engine systems on space ships, airplane engines, and automobiles exhaust systems. I also have videos on another project the Planet of the Apes Starship "Icarus"(1968) this will come in handy for engine wear and weathering on that kit too! thanks!

if you look at images of heatedTitanium or crom and other steels. they are realy intens in colors. but this totorial just showes my way and interpretation of this effect. also its a miniature and when you play a game and see the mini on the table its not to bad if its a bit saturated... cheers
