Wow! Adorable Shayda! I’ve been wanting to paint some cats and when you mentioned choices a lightbulb went off in my head. Finally, finally I understand what that means. I’d never heard any artist describe style in this way before. The closest was when a couple of artists I listened to said don’t worry about it, your style will find you. What hogwash! There is a technique for everything including style and you’ve just revealed it me. I’m so relieved 🥲! Blessings to you!

@@ShaydaCampbell …yes, but for some strange reason, I didn’t make the connection between “choices” and “style” in watercolor. I spent years in my younger life as a hair stylist and was very much aware of the importance of choices and style for that line of work, which can be complex and intricate. There are very definite techniques for all of the work in hair styling, but lots of room for creativity so one can have fun also. I believe I’ll be having much more fun with watercolor from now on with this knowledge you’ve imparted. Blessings to you Shayda, and your community of artists. Love you guys💗

Why have you added white? It's no longer watercolour when adding white! You've turned it into gouache! If you want it lighter, add water! Don't add white as it gouache. Titanium white, Chinese white in watercolour paints are basically gouache. There's no difference. By adding white then other colours turns it to mud.
