How to Paint Fake Patina Flames! 1938 Chevrolet / Holden Pickup Ratrod Budget Build!

In this Episode 22 on the 1938 Budget build Chevrolet / Holden Ratrod Pickup Truck. We do a How to video on Faux Patina flames, we try to get the Dodge Hood to blend in better with the Chevy cab with some Faux patina painted over the rust and then some patina flames get adorned on to the hood for a classic old hotrod look. The results look amazing and are achieved relatively easily, in a technique that is quite different than how majority of people do there fake patina. For those that stick around to the end you will get a sneak glimpse of the new chopped build that is under way before any one else sees it.

The Prince of Patina, the creator of cool.... you got that faux patina down to perfection. It doesn't looked faked or forced. Right on! The flames are cool. I've done a few pray can flame jobs in the past with pretty good results. Never patina'd them though. I like it. That Bedford is going to be bad to the bone.

Haha 😄 thanks mate the idea just popped in my head I'm glad it turned out how I imagined it. They look better in person than on camera. The Bedford will look tough if it turns out half as good as the picture in my head.

Just saw your video. I am rebuilding an old 83’ Chevy step side for my grandson and I want to keep the original paint on it. I have to repair some floor boards but we want to keep it factory paint and clear it when finished or use some type of sealer on it. I like the semi gloss look like you are using.

The oils work well, just reapply occasionally.

@@copperheadkustoms I saved the video when you said the ingredients I’m in Texas so I probably have to used WD-40.

@@dannykerr2007 boiled linseed oil , terps and wd 40 will work well aswell that's what most use. My concoction came as I had a tonne of these other oils. In the video where I'm mix it at the bench you will need to add more terps to it
