13:40 love this trick for painting black. I first learned this trick from Juan Hidalgo’s speed painting black armor video and it looks awesome even over an entire marine. From what I can tell you basically only use warpaints fanatic but Juan Hidalgo goes really into the cold vibes on the black by using thunder hawk blue as his first dry brush and fenrisian grey as the next dry brush followed by vallejo xpress black lotus which is a blue tinted contrast/speed paint type paint. It adds a really interesting depth of color and also temperature contrast to the black that just straight up black, gray, and black speed paint doesnt really have.

I think this is the year I make the jump to airbrush, I have been thinking about it for a long time. And considering I live someplace you cannot use a rattle can year round I think it makes a lot of sense. I realize the learning curve can be a bit steep. Nice Video. I tend to paint my ghostkeel too, but i have a ivory color scheme, bit trickier than red. Instead of the oil wash i use a panel liner from ak (enamel). Works similar but not that fast. Maybe i try it with newsh from PA

Hi there, love the tutorial, definitely taking it for my own Tau army. I was just wondering what varnishes you used? I tend to find it hard to get the gloss varnish back to a nice matte finish after the oil wash stage so any help is greatly appreciated. I currently use vallejo "mecha gloss varnish" and the vallejo "matt polyurethane varnish".

Any chance for a tutorial for infantry in this scheme? I guess a fair few airbrushing steps would be redundant on an infantry scale? Also, if you were to push the scheme further, what color would you use to edge highlight the red panels?

No plans currently. Harlequins and emperors spears on the desk next. However, edge highlights. If you remember i did a highlight of a light flesh colour. I'd use this same paint and edge highlight all the way round. Then apply your Blood Red Speed Paint over the top exactly as i did in the video. This will give you natural red edge highlights. I hope that helps!

I just found your channel and it’s fantastic! Can you use air paints with a brush? I’m very new, and I’ve been trying to use the Triad system. But I’m worried that when it comes time to clean up, I won’t be able to get as detailed with the airbrush. Could I clean up later with a regular brush? I’m very new, so I’m still obsessed with space Marines. They feel too small for airbrush.

LMAO the dislike ratio on this video is ridiculous. The Tau-hate bandwagon in full effect... Sad. Guarantee none of them actually watched it. This vid is actually super helpful, and will probably be even more useful to new Tau players coming in that are hoping to paint like the boxart.
