In this painting I’ve tried to capture the autumnal color of maple leaves coupled with a hint of holiday seasons to come by means of a dark pine green background.

My 160 th. Thanks for ideas to tackle and approach " abstracts". 😊 I'm am involved in a 12 weeks program how to handle tinnitus and it focuses on acceptation rather than controlling. The first session today "softened" my mind . Watching your video I got a bit emotional ( a bit) ; your art and the presentation through these videos can indeed not only loosen up our way of painting ( with emphasis on fun )but also lifting our spirit. 🎉😊 . In this time of reflecting - no matter what life offers in the good and the bad - I feel very grateful, for what life offers inspite everything our little personal life and the world suffers from. Thanks Diane for you role in this. Keep yours and our spirit up. ❤ ( yes I am a bit emotional) 😊wim

I’m sorry to hear you suffer from tinnitus Wim. My husband has a serious case too, and often is extremely angry and upset about it. Unfortunately I don’t think any programs are available here for such things and anyway he doesn’t really speak French! I have experienced it too, many years ago after a serious operation I had tinnitus for a couple of years. Then I had some osteopathic treatment and it went away completely. A miracle ! It turned out it was mostly muscular. I still have ear problems but not that (dizziness occasionally, blocked ears due to allergies…) I send you all my sympathy and wishes for a recovery, or if that’s not possible then the equanimity to accept it. Love from Diane xxx

Although I don't like autumn very much because everything dies and the trees become bare, I think this picture is great once again. When I look at it, I have the impression that there are real maple leaves on the paper. Then again your wonderfully warm choice of colours, dear Diane.... And in this picture you show again so many beautiful techniques. I am always thrilled when you show water drops. They really give the impression of a 3D effect. Beautiful. And I am always grateful for the knowledge you so generously give us all. Thank you Diane!!!

Thanks Sylvia, always appreciate your thoughtful comments. It's true that autumn has a hint of sadness about it, but that is compensated for by the beauty of the colours of the departing leaves and flowers! Thank you again for your wonderful gifts - I opened the package containing the embroidery scissors yesterday - so pretty and so useful - I'd been thinking about buying some for a long time but hadn't got round to it, so thank you so much!! 😍

To get it lighter you just need the shine to go. You can tilt it & see when it leaves then mark it w/the card piece & it'll mark white.

Yes, that's the problem isn't it! It's a subtle thing, a sort of reluctance to try in case you fail, while telling yourself all the time it doesn't matter. I think I was raised to believe that I shouldn't waste time, and that underlies that feeling. I envy people (I'm sure they exist!) who don't worry about wasting time...........

No maples here in Brittany, France, not really. Some people might have them in their gardens in the towns of Brittany, possibly, but I live in a remote agricultural area where you don't see many "foreign" trees! I used to enjoy them when I lived in Canada though! Spectacular, as are the larches!
